Good Morning, can having a virus cause one to flare up and feel worse than ever?

What I believed to be a 24 hr bug has turned into 3 days of sickness. I hurt all over, nausea. Anyone else have these problems? It seems to take forever to recover from viruses, colds. I pray that everone has a painfree day. God Bless. Linda

Hello! I am so sorry to hear that you are not feeling very well. I also find that it takes me longer to recover from colds and virus' etc than everyone else. My arthritis also flares up a little bit too and I feel stiff/a little more pain ful than normal but after a couple of days I feel a bit better :) I always find a couple of paracetamols and lots of sleep makes me feel better :)

Hope you feel better soon!

Hi

Yes i am in agreement with the others, any extra thing for our immune systems to deal with does tend to take a longer time to get over and effects our arthritis, but as em said usually you feel better within a few days. Make sure you have had the flu jab though ;-)

Feel better soon

Yes, I agree too. A cold lasts a long time and causes my RA to flare. My rheumy told me to increase the painkillers and decrease the exercise. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks Guys, I should also probably mention that I am recovering from an extended visit with my family. My husband and I have a small house. On weekends our son, wife & three grandsons,8,6,3 yrs of age stayed from Wed. till Sun. They are usually here every week end due to our son rebuilding a car with a friend of his. They live 1 1/2 hrs away so they stay with us on weekends so that he can work on his car Sat. & Sun. I think after several months of this it is really getting to me. Plus this week end was a bit longer & this virus thing has beat me to a pulp.

Oh dear Grammie Linda, That would be enough to make any of us be beaten to a pulp!!

We love our families, and the grandchildren and little boys!...I think I am partial to little boys, seems like whatever they do, it's more tolerable because they are being boys. I have 4 sons, no daughters, but now have 3 daughters-in-law, and 4 granddaughters and 3 grandsons. We try to get them all together one weekend in the summer. But every weekend?? Ohmyword!!! That could get to be a bit much, unless you can get away to take naps. Good luck with that one! Hang in there, the virus will wear itself out eventually, faster if you rest and drink lots of liquids to flush it out. God bless, Loret in USA
