Have you questioned if it’s Costocondritis? It can be incredibly painful.

Hi

Have you managed to speak to a consultant at all or are you under a Rhumatology Ward. I second Denise as Costocondritis is very painful. Thankfully I don’t suffer but a close work colleague of mine does and you can see the amount of pain she in. Hope you get it sorted and get some answers. Sarah xx

I'm sorry, I don't remember. Unless you have RD (RA) or a related condition I'm afraid we're unable to help as we're not medically qualified here. I would make an appointment to see if your GP can help, it sounds as if you may have had the pain some time & as it's so sore an examination may be necessary to determine what else could be causing it.

It would be unfair to suggest anything it may or may not be from experience in case we're wrong but I'm sure if you see your GP he will be able to help you.

Hi. Just been going through the same thing for over a year now. I have had RA for over 20 years now and have had 6 joint replacements in that time.

Last year I had 3 chest infections one after another. Which left me with a hacking cough.+ Bronchectisis.

The pain started under my right rib and spreading around my back. I ended up in hospital on Morphine whilst on holiday. BLOODS checked and it was presumed it could be gall stones. Was sent for scan and MRI nothing detected.Eventually saw a gastro consultant and he has diagnosed. PAINFUL RIB Syndrome.which is a ruptured cartilage.

Now awaiting to see my Rheumatolist.

Apparently I could take anti depressant which helps with pain!

Cortisone injections in the rib or BOTOX.

+CBT treatment which I think will enable me to tell myself that I'm not in pain!!!!

Mindfulness would be kinder. You would then just tell yourself you had pain, but you didn't mind!

Hope it resolves PDQ

I have very similar symptomology, if I understand correctly the back and sides of the ribcage when you lean back on things, chair backs, car seats etc. I also find that the very ends of the ribs are sore to touch. Mine comes and goes, I think in relation to dairy intake but I can't prove this quite yet. I also get a dull pressure on the LHS of my chest around the heart area especially after exercise at the same time but Ive been tested a million time for heart attacks. It's a mystery
