I can remember the sense of relief I had after having a hysterectomy. Both hearing that it was just fibroids causing the inconvenient and heavy bleeding, and the actuality that I wouldn't be literally leaving my mark on chairs in the future!

I recovered more quickly than I expected but I did find that I was more tired than expected despite having fewer problems with anaemia. Be gentle with yourself and don't be shy in telling people that you have had an operation!

I felt like a new woman just days after mine and I hope you'll be the same. The sudden waves of tiredness afterwards were a surprise but I was told it was the after effects of the anaesthetic and would disappear quite quickly. Wishing you all the best
