Everything going wrong!

I've been on Humira for a year with pretty good results but was taken off to see if gastric issues receded--they didn't so put back on but not successfully so have stopped it under advice , had 2 steroid injections and waiting to start new biologic in a few weeks. My thyroid has now gone slightly hyper--have been slightly hypo and following an out of hours Dr. diagnosis of an infection as had some discomfort swallowing, morning after steroid injection in shoulder, I was given clarithyromicyn and then changed to Doxy by GP over phone as I felt so ill after 3 tablets. Still feeling lousy with new tingling in lower forearm and calf down to foot. Tinnitus has ramped up, headache worse but no temperature at all. Lungs & throat clear all along, no discomfort in throat now--lifted within 12 hours. Could I have RA & thyroid issues rather than an infection--no blood test taken. Seeing GP in the morning and I want to have clarity re the inter-relationship of all my symptoms.

Any ides anyone?

Thanks

Did you have tests done on thyroid situation when you said you have gone from hypo to hyper?

You should always ask for the results. The funny thing seems to be that very often the interpretation of test results are not correct. Have been for a long time on HUs thyroid forum and am quite amazed by the abundance of wrong diagnosis done by doctors. On this forum there is a lot of good knowledge and you get good advice on interpreting your results. Do have a look, get your results and see what the forum says.😊Good luck. Simba

The thing is really to analyze the situation right, which evidently isn't easy even for the endos. The symptoms of hypo can really be very much like RA that's why it is so important to get it right. Ask for your last results. I am not a doctor but really think it's a bit strange that your hypo would turn hyper just like that (?)

It wasn’t an instant thing, I had been feeling off for several weeks as they were sorting out my RA meds so GP got thyroid tested as not seeing rheum for several weeks. GP is very supportive and did ring rheum to push for an earlier appt as he is not a specialist and wants to get the best response for me. I will get the results and check it all out. Right now my mood is so low as I have so much going on health wise I need to get as much info as poss so thanks for the advice

Hope you can soon be stable. My thyroid went hyper ten years after being diagnosed and it was an crazy time with RA and thyroid going mad and whether it is hypo or hyper it is scary at times. I hope you can soon be on the new med and it works as well for you as Humira did for you first time round. Good luck. 😘
