Seen GP - Feeling good now.

Seen the GP last week she got the results of my blood which had something in which she thought was not the arthritis that was the trouble. Got fybromyaljia (think thats what it is called) She gave me some steroids to try for three days telling me that if the pills worked it was that word up above. I can now climb the stairs in the same day I took them. Can sit on toilet now without the hamstrings pulling at back of leg

Just hurting in the top of arms also cannot lie on the arms in bed. Feeling Great Guy's

Doc is suppose to ring today to see if the tablets work. They are called Prednisolone 5mg x 3 in the morning.

Hope my news rubs off as good vibes to all who are in agony. LAL.

You need to discuss this with your GP to identify the cause of your problem and then you can try and avoid it. Prednisolone is used to cure many health problems. I had this Prednisolone for my allergy, I was on 8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 and one three times a day for two weeks. Prednisolone did help me with my allergy, the one  I had was red in colour, there is white one as well for people with colour in medication problem. you have to watch out for stomach problems with medication.

Hi Judy

Arthritis Research UK have information on fibromyalgia, which might be helpful:

Prednisalone is a remarkable drug, that can work like magic in getting you back on your feet.  But it can't really cure anything, as it works by damping down symptoms like inflammation which makes you feel better even if the underlying cause is still there.  Sometimes that's enough to give your body a break and get a chance to improve, other times it's only temporary sadly.

It's often used as a bit of way to see what is wrong with you, as if you respond well to it then it's more likely you have something inflammatory wrong with you.  But I've never heard of it used to check for fibromyalgia.  Have others?

Anyway, I'm pleased that it's given you a boost and you're having a good day.  Long may it last.

Agree, its usually used to check for an inflammatory problem, and fibromyalgia isn't inflammatory.

Hi hands, am pleased the steroids are giving you relief. I haven't heard either of fibromyalgia being tested for using steroid, or of anything showing up in your blood with fibromyalgia. Steroid tests as helix said are usually done for inflammatory conditions. My mum had polymyalgia rheumatica and this was tested for this way.

Enjoy the relief, after my first steroid injection I enjoyed my first nights sleep in over a month........it was bliss.

Fibromyalgia is constant pain which cause exhaustion and fatigue.I didn't realise the steroids worked on fibro. I had weight loss surgery last October and was able to get off steroids after being on them for years and i had gained a lot of weight because of them,so try not to take them long term.xxxxxxx
