Woke in the night with ridiculous pain in right wrist, where did that come from? I am very used to my hands and feet but the wrist is totally unexpected. Is this what happens? I have very limited painful movement and shooting pains almost like tendon pain as I try to rotate my wrist going up to my elbow, arrgghh
Ok who broke my wrist during the night?: Woke in the... - NRAS
Ok who broke my wrist during the night?
Ouch,i bet that hurts. I suggest you go and get it checked out. xxxx
I've recently blogged about this if you scroll down the blogs. Its agony isn't it? I've had this wrist stuff as my worst experience of RA on and off for 2 years now so I know exactly how you feel. It was under control for a year with MTX but I came off for a month to find out what other Moore minor bit annoying symptoms were being caused by. It turned out they were mostly not to do with MTX but after 3 weeks I suffered repeated wrist flares in my right wrist. It never looks swollen unlike my knuckles - but it is excruciating. I believe its when the ulnar nerve (elbow) gets trapped - maybe RA inflammation for us. With help from Julie aka RA-fibro - I have found some exercises called ulnar flossing which seem to help. Keeping the elbow straight and avoiding repetitive activities with your arm will help avoid flare ups - easier said than done though! Hope this helps. Tilda x
Ps I found Naproxen and paracetamol get it back under control for me - anti-inflammatories and resting the affected joint are what my GP recommended. Then when things improve you could try the ulnar flossing and physio stuff?
Yes it is vey painful, try physio/ pain killers and find tildas blog to see if it helps too x
Bless you all for your kind responses, I am lucky to have my first appointment with rheumy nurse this afternoon, so I will start my treatment today, I am taking my Naprosyn as directed but to no avail today. My husband raised a" what's wrong with you now " eyebrow as he went off to work this morning, makes you feel awful doesn't it, sometimes you can't hide the fact that it hurts a lot, x
I think perhaps you could show your husband some websites about RA - gradually educate him about what you are going through? My husband knows I don't milk it and also that a hug helps so much.
Good luck this afternoon x
I know you are right woolly, I don't have the courage yet,
I am waiting for it all to go away as quickly as it came ... daft I know.
I feel like I could upset the whole Apple cart, you know your life and the way you are and the things you do, the plans you have, I guess I feel a bit down, it's all new and I just need to adjust and get over it,
I don't mean to sound self indulgent although I know I do,
Have a cup of tea, that's what I will do x x
I don't think you sound self indulgent at all. There is so much to take in, process & deal with. I was diagnosed in July & am still fighting with my emotions and as you so righty put it waiting for it to go away & get back to "normal"
I really hope your appointment goes well today & you get plenty of support & advice. Best of luck with your treatment & hope the wrist eases off soon.
Enjoy that well deserved cuppa, hope there is a wee biccie to dunk too! xxx
It certainly is emotional. I'm a bottler-upper but never cried so much! really hope today is positive for you. Please let us know how you get on.
As for tea & biscuits.....well only cake could better it
Take care. Sending strength & gentle hugs xx
Cake of course... Mmm
You are very kind, not long to go now,
I will let you know how things go,
Hope you have a nice afternoon x
My wrists and shoulders are often my trouble spots. I was referred for phtsio and like TIlda said, they told me it was trapped nerves due to inflammation. They gave me what they called "sliding" exercises. They r gentle movements of the arm to gradually straighten out the blocked area. Difficult to explain in blog but mayb google could find some picture demos. They help me when my pain comes back.
Good luck.
Oh bless,I will certainly Pursue that, I am waiting for a physio appointment so that will be wonderful, my Rheumy nurse explained how ligaments
Can be involved and soft tissue, so that would explain a lot, oh this is a voyage of discovery! Xx
