Hi I'm quitting smoking after recently being diagnosed with severe asthma I'm only 23 and only been smoking for a couple of years but I'm a stress head with bad anxiety and why I reach for a cig. I currently use the nicorette stop smoking app and gum and while slowly lowering my cigs. Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with being stressed and having cravings etc?

Welcome to the community Blouise1504 , how are you getting on?

Up and down if I'm honest 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ my severe asthma was caused by covid and flu so I'm still in pain with my ribs and lungs while they repair, the doctor says. Which makes me irritable due to the pain and then I smoke before I lose my head at something small but then the smoking doesn't obviously help my asthma and irritates it. It's a terrible cycle☹️

Sorry that you are having a rough time Blouise1504 , have you spoke to your doctor about getting help to stop, maybe getting in touch with a Cessation Nurse?

I find the mouth spray really useful for when im at my wits end. It calms me down loads. But im trying to reduce my use of that now too and just try to think when i crave a cig.. that's a sign that I'm winning! Good luck.

Hey Gemma49 (and Blouise1504 ), I would be very careful with the spray as it is HIGHLY addictive and we have several members who have shared their struggle with stopping the spray and sadly found it worse than giving up the cigarettes. I personally think it should be banned from sale 😡
