Day 8 - oh what a day

Woke up feeling yuck. Did a workout. Felt better. Sat on my smoking steps a few times this morning for comfort. Now day 8 of no smoking and no contact from my boy mate. I think the loss of my friendship is hurting more than me not smoking ☹️ maybe that’s why I’m going so well?! Heartbreak often says it’s like a drug withdrawal ☹️ so I’m going through this and an ACTUAL drug addiction.

Went for a walk and coffee round a lake with my friend. She makes me feel so good. Got home. Rainy day. Cried for most the evening. Know smoking won’t change how I’m feeling. Just rollercoaster day.

Back to work again tomorrow. Hopefully people and chatting will help me have a better day.

From one unhappy feeling low Betty 😔

Hello there 🙂

I'm sorry to hear you've had such a rotten day. Losing a friendship is not a pleasant experience at all and it's ni wonder you feel so sad. Is there no chance of reconciliation? I know you said he hasn't contacted you but would it be worth you contacting him instead? Somebody has to make the first move, it could be you? Just a thought.

Well done on not smoking. You're right, it won't solve the problem or make you feel any less sad, it will just add another layer if stress on top of everything else.

Woek tomorrow will help to take your mind off of things, so that's good.

Stick with it. Plough through tomorrow. I hope you havea better day. x

Thank you Mushen with your never ending support! It’s best friend day and I feel you’re my quit smoking online bff! Haha

He loves sports cars and I couldn’t believe that I saw a Ferrari 458 in the exact colour he owns. So I sent him a photo and said what are the chances. He read it but didn’t reply 😭 I think I struggle because I want to be friends with everyone. I have bought some new books about better boundaries and relationships. I really want to learn and grow and be a healthy person. Mentally and physically!

Hang on in there Betty...you are doing great...!!

You must really investigate Herbal over the counter Supplements to get the Dopamine

(the happy Chemical) flowing.

You are feeling "yuck" because your brain is now totally deprived of Dopamine and Serotonin/Tyrosine

"If we are deficient in dopamine levels, this can cause some imbalance in our life. A lack of dopamine is associated with the following consequences:

"

Fatigue

Apathy

Lack of focus

Forgetfulness

Moodiness

Difficulty concentrating

Insomnia

Sugar cravings

Lower motivation

Eat foods rich in Tyrosine. In order to make dopamine, your body needs tyrosine which can be found in almonds, bananas, avocados, eggs, beans, fish, and chicken.

It saved me ....And therefore today I am smober :Five years, two days, 3 hours, 7 minutes and 49 seconds. 73165 cigarettes not smoked, saving R 73 165,20.(3658,0) Life saved: 36 weeks, 2 days, 1 hour, 5 minutes.

Enjoy your smoke free life...it is amazing...!

Hi Hercu! Thank you soooo much for your advice! This is wonderful. Goodness our brains and chemicals are so important but complex. I love the detail of how long you have quit for hehehehe I can’t see myself turning to be a smoker. I’ll try to add those things into my diet. I have a put on a few pounds. I thought week one I would be kind to myself, sleep that I needed and eat junk. But we know no exercise and bad diet feel so bad but now I am struggling to get motivated!!! Going to try a 5K run tomorrow (only recently did vouch to 5K!) and test out these new (not really new) lungs Of mine!!! Hopefully the endorphins will get pumping!!!

Thank you again. All the support is amazing!

If you can get through days like that and not smoke you’re on to a good thing. Well done for not succumbing to the cigs. Bestow some kudos on yourself.

Thank you Nozmo!! We must remember that although we train ourselves to think those stinky sticks help with stress they’re causing so much more stress in so many ways to ourselves. Time mostly heals things....I’m so impatient and always looking for a quick fix! The quick fix was to quit cold turkey and just do it! No excuses, no waiting around - and now day 9 complete!!!
