Day 4 nearly over! I’m so tired?! Help!

I have to admit mentally I have prepared for this and feel so strong!

HOWEVER I did not realise how exhausted and tired I would feel. It sort of feels like I have the flu with the exhaustion!! I really hope this lifts soon as I miss my exercise and hobbies. I still haven’t had a single thought that I want or need a cigarette?! It’s day 4 and I don’t miss it at all? Is this normal?

All it is is riding out these waves physically - I have no control over how my body is reacting to this. It must be working so hard to replace, repair and adapt. My poor body!! Why did I only realise and want this after 16years (half my life). I feel so ashamed I’ve been punishing myself for so long.

Me and mum fell out today. It’s to do with how tired I am. Her reaction is ‘you might as well smoke because at least you’re happy’ which I got terribly upset about because that isn’t supportive. I met my best friend who walked with me for an hour and brought me my favourite sweets and a nice diet cherry coke which omg tastes so so good! My taste for things is already changing?!!!

I really wish tomorrow I can do more than watch Netflix all day. The walk with my friend did help but as soon as I got home I slept for most the afternoon as it tired me out so much! Anyone else relate to this? Any tips?

I have found an article for you on a site called WhyQuit.com. It may be worth checking out the other articles too because this site really is one of the best places around for information about quitting smoking.

Sorry to hear about you falling out with your Mum. Please, do not take her comments to heart. You are in day 4 of withdrawl and there are many changes going on. Sometimes, those around us are not as supportive as they could be, this is not a reason to abandon your quit. It's also the reason we are here, to provide support as and when you need it.

Take it one day at a time. Quitting can be exhausting because you are actively fighting an addiction every hour of every day. It will not be like this forever. It will pass. Keep going.

I cannot deal with how nice and supportive you are. Your msg means a lot. I shall look at the link now. Thank you. I also msgd NHS and asked for some advice on the fatigue. I realise my body is under immense pressure after giving it a drug for half my life.

Hi Betty8787, I went through the same, tiredness like I had never known before. So I just gave in to it for a bit and tried not to stress about it as well. It took a while but my energy levels came back. I was smoking around 25 a day and figured as they are a stimulant that was what my body was missing. Every half hour getting a boost from the fags. I put on a heap of weight as well but luckily I was already a fat bastard so I just became fatter hahaha I am just now starting to work on changing my morbid obesity back down to obese hahaha Stay strong and try to enjoy the ride
