Struggling to stop smoking
Welcome Michellem2 , congratulations on making the best decision (or advise given) to stop smoking.
We have several members here who successfully stopped with the aid of champix, some reaching milestones from 1 year to 4 years.
The champix is a great aid if you can tolerate it, so if over a week with no issues, just hang in there and let the pills do the work to get you to put out that final cigarette, which is usually around the 2 week mark but varies for each individual, follow the dosage and complete the full course.
Keep us updated on how you are getting on and read up as much as you can on other members posts, especially our Hercu posts who is over 4 years smoke free using champix….
Hi Michellem. Listen to Roisin's advice and the others who have posted in the past. I did not use champix, but it is a struggle no bad what method we use. But the result is worth it.
Hi Michelle; copd is so serious, you have a very real reason to quit. You are worth it. I was on Champix for two full weeks before I quit. They say to 'set a date' and if the Champix doesn't give you bad side effects, this drug may really help you not have strong cravings. It makes cigarettes taste pretty bad. Stay strong!
My friend has COPD was ok 1 year ago ended up in hospital over Christmas with lungs that were 3 times the normal size. Is now on medication galore, signed of work and been given a very low life expectancy and he still smokes. What a moron !.
