No one can really help you stop. That’s something you have to do yourself. But support you will get lots of that here. I started by just telling myself or myself telling me your done no more enough is enough. It’s s nasty addictive habit one that I wish never toke up as for me the withdrawals have been awful. So yes you have to find the inner strength and just quit. If your ready you will know 👍

Welcome Barryc76 - excellent reply, how long have you stopped and how are you getting on?

Hi roisin. I’m coming up 5 weeks now cold turkey. And it’s been rough lol. So many different emotional things going on with my brain it’s hard to explain but kinda feels like my brain doesn’t know what’s going on and it’s trying to reset its self if that makes sense ?

Hey Barryc76 - yes it makes perfect sense and is normal as your brain is working very hard to gradually rewire, repair and recover....

Congratulations on over 5 weeks smoke free, that is great (can you let me know your stop date for accurate milestone badges when you get a chance). I too stopped cold turkey and will be hitting 4 years in September. It was a bumpy road at times but so worth it now to experiencing a new lease of life smoke free! I found I have become more spiritual (not religiously) but more appreciation of nature, food, family, friends etc... since I stopped.

Keep up the great work and us posted on how you are getting on :)

Apologies Barryc76 - I keyed in the 02 May rather than 20 May on my spreadsheet, 50 days tomorrow, badge a bit early :D

3 months smoke free now Barryc76 - how are you getting on?

Hi Hamedi ..feeling worried about your health it’s actually a good sign . If you find very difficult to stop visit your doctor .there is lots of options for you to make your quitting experience much easier . Times are changing there is medication ,nicotine replacement ,patches ,inhalers and much more .if you are ready to just quit ASAP then you can do it cold turkey .

First you have to find your way to quit then choose a date .

Keep in mind the reason it’s hard for you is because nicotine is in all your system.

One cigarette will make you want the next one ..it’s a chain. Once your body is clean of addicting chemicals you will not miss cigarrets ..believe me !

You can do it ! Read our stories in the pinned post and just make the decision that’s going to change your live for ever . 👍

Hi be careful with the spray, I have heard it is very addictive. I quit using the patches. They helped me get over the habit of smoking, but I still had to go through withdrawl when I stopped using them. So congrats and good luck on your quit. It's a big thing. You can do it.

Oh Im glad. I don't think they should be allowed to sell that quick mist.

Good luck today. Drink lots of water, don't listen to the cravings, they are bad but they will pass if you just keep putting in the time. There are lots of posts and advice here about how to quit.

Welcome Hamedi , congratulations on hopefully now 1 day smoke free!

I can't add anything more to the excellent advice already given especially about the quick mist as it is more addictive than the cigarettes so great call not to go with it.

Read up as much you can as knowledge is power!
