Giving up with champix

Hi,

I have just started champix today to give up smoking. I have smoked on and off for 30 years (gave up for pregnancies) but I’m now sick of it and want to quit. I was worried about taking champix because of the horror stories so I have just taken a leap of faith. No other way has worked for me and I’ve tried them all.

Someone I know just took them for 2 weeks six years ago and has never smoked since? What are your opinions on that? I’m thinking it may be best for me to stick the course.

I would love to hear some positive experiences of giving up on champix. I’m not keen to hear any negative ones really.

Many thanks

Hi Stacey ..First of all congratulations for quitting smoking .This is an amazing comunity you will learn a lot and you can share with all of us everything you want .There is also a section on each page for pinned posts , with lots of information about Chantix experiences ,advises and much more

I love Chantix I tried quitting many times before but Chantix made it much easier .

You wil still have to take some steps and have patience with your body trying to adjust ..but very soon you will start not enjoying smoking as you used to

Very important quit caffeine and off course alcohol .

Do not believe the stories about Chantix ..unless you suffer severe nervious disorders or diagnosed depression and or your doctor advices you not to take it , you should not worry!!

Over 30 years of statistics and reviews has proven that when we quit we all get withdraw symptoms no matter what method we choose .also the square warning symbol is not longer in the Chantix package so don’t be afraid .

Consult with your doctor if any severe reactions off course .

Plan orbhave s list of things to do whenever you get an urge to smoke ,distracting and redirecting your mind is the key to stay quit . drink herbal teas and herbal sleeping tea at least 2 hours before bed .change your routine , avoid things that triggers you to remember smoking .

When we smoked we inhaled almost 4K chemicals and forced our body for so many years ! now is time to give our body love and understanding .its just the right thing to do .

Never forget the reasons you are quitting and make sure you visit this our place every time you need it .one day soon you will probably be helping others ,

I’m almost 2 years cigarret free and I LOVE it ! No more guilt my health has improved I’m so amazingly happy..🦋

Hi Stacey

Stopped with Champix 4 months ago. I had tried so often before and failed. Champix helped so much. They can make you feel sick and many people have vivid dreams. Small price to pay. I also felt a bit inward and distant from people, but as I ve always been a blurted, in some ways that was a good thing. Stopping smoking is a huge shock to the mind and body, however you go about it. Because. Smoking is a massive insult to the mind and body, and it doesn’t let go of us easily.

It’s wonderful being free, use the whole course as directed if you can

Hi Stacey48. I recommend Champix completely. I find it takes the craving away alot. Enough that you can concentrate on the psychological side of it. Everything else I have tried didnt put a dent in the cravings.

Welcome Stacey48 - we have many members here to successfully stopped using champix, some in their 1, 2, 3 and 4 year milestones.

Definitely try and take the full recommended 12 week course as cutting it can cause relapse.

Looking forward to reading your Day 1 post very soon :)
