Start of Day 2, more resolved! Feel cranky with myself but have to do it this time Roisin01! Back to sleeplessness ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ฉ it is what it is! Want to stay in bed, but work calls! The night times the hardest for me, still going cold turkey but considering a 7mg patch from around 4pm?? Weโ€™ll see how I go tonight ๐Ÿ’›

Great, well done Frostytime - if you can try and get the 3 days over you and the nicotine will be out of your system by then, but if too much, do whatever it takes not to light up a smoke, its your journey :)

That must have been a very very hard and frustrating thing to happen and your being positive again ..so go for it and be stronger ..

I remember last August when I got ill with pneumonia, when I got home from hospital , so probably was 5 days with a ciggy ...

I ditched the tobacco in the bin as told myself I cannot smoke again ..

The next day , I was in the bin getting the tobacco out and put it in the drawer and telling myself , โ€œ itโ€™s incase โ€œ !!!

Thatโ€™s how strong that bloody nicotine addiction is !

Then I had to have a reality check .. I then tipped the tobacco out into the bin ..

also I had a sub vape device .. that went into the garage and in my vice and I destroyed it and tipped the fluids down the drain ..

So I understand how strong it is and how easy it can be to slip back ..

I still get from time to time , little reminders but on the whole Iโ€™m smoke free now ,

still think itโ€™s because of how ill I got and how my lungs got , did frighten the living daylights out of me which made me quit , but was still hard all the same with going cold turkey.. I believe if you can , itโ€™s the best way in the long run ...

I guess the on,y tip I can say is , when you get a reminder urge , destact from it with something.. a glass of water , hoover the house , something youโ€™d do without smoking at the same time ...Anything to get that urge away .. I see you can now post an SOS if you find your struggling ..

good luck and positive attitude ๐Ÿ‘

Thanks Rig45! Hated myself for giving in at 54 days and back to square one! The anxiety for me is huge, always feel as though I have some terrible illness!!! I want to break this nicotine demon from my psyche so badly! I know how easy one puff turns back into a full on habit again! NOT this time, it wonโ€™t beat me! I just couldnโ€™t go on and my anxiety smoking is just as bad anyway! Thank you so much for your support and Iโ€™m so happy youโ€™ve achieved your quit! Congratulations to you, Iโ€™ll keep persevering! And just keep trying to beat this! Minute by minute at the moment! ๐Ÿ’›

Also a visit to your Gp , get a health mot and put your mind at rest which will also give you a much deserved boost ..

Going to wait until the 3 month mark for the big health check, my body is going haywire at the moment! Always think the worst! The nicotine demon has many faces! Loaded up with natural remedies and cutting back on sugar has really helped with the exercise. This group is phenomenal as well! It shows me how many people are going through the same tough times! Thanks rjg45! Well done to you! ๐Ÿ’›

Yes , we are all either at the beginning , the middle or seeing the light at the end of the tunnel lol

My issues at the moment

I move aircraft for my job and first thing in the morning before Iโ€™ve had a break

The aircraft are still full of hot first class breakfast ... Itโ€™s hard to resist lol

I need the willpower to resist sausages bacon and eggs at 6.00 in the morning ๐Ÿ˜‚

When did the insomnia get better for you?

Rjg45 profile image
Rjg45500 Days Smoke Free in reply to Frostytime

Good couple of weeks i think , I was all over the place , going off , then wake up was on and off on and off ..

It really is unbelievable what these bloody things have done to us isnโ€™t it ?

The break go from the addiction is a bugger for sure

my sleep patterns are all over the place anyhow as do shift work , Not nights , but getting up a 2โ€™ / 3โ€™s etc ..

I was off sick recovering from the pneumonia anyway when I quit

I still think it was easier for me as was Ill and smoking was the last thing on my mind with the pain I had in my one of my lungs and what was coming up .. sorry to be graphic but did shit the life out of me , The horrible pain I will not forget ..

Now , thereโ€™s no rattles and my breathing is clear as a bell and my peak flow readings are unbelievable for someone whoโ€™s smoked for 25/30 yrs !!!

So I guess that helped but all the same , still had to starved myself ..

I drink a lot coffee as well ... Funny as I hardly touched the stuff .Then from 2009 when my son was born , I drink gallons of the stuff ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Try some things to help you settle sleep wise .. warm drinks , herbal remedies for sleep

Wish you all best mate , please keep plodding as it really is short lived I promise you .. you will suddenly get the better of it ..

Keep us upto speed ๐Ÿ‘

Rjg45 profile image
Rjg45500 Days Smoke Free in reply to Rjg45

And I forgot to mention ...

give yourself a feel good well done and a pat on the back ..smile about it ..

Thatโ€™s one thing I do and proud about now when Iโ€™m out and about , I see other people smoking , and apart from not being able to stand the bloody smell of them now , Iโ€™m chuffed that I dont do it now especially when I think how it ruled me ..routine cig here and one there and dominating you ..

So big smiles and give it the finger

I'm not ashamed to say after 6 months I still put a patch on if I feel the need..

Nicotine is a stimulant... that's my weakness(1 of em anyways)

I'd rather breath and live,

Than choke and cough

I bought the 7mg patch and it has settled me down. Throughout this whole process I have gained a very strong understanding of myself and what my body feels with and without nicotine:( it is so powerful, Iโ€™m going to use the 7mg for a little while until the emotional psychological symptoms subside, thanks Jeff!

Ah Frostytime - please don't be so hard on yourself - you are far from a failure and deserve so much recognition and admiration for trying to free yourself from Mr Nico. I can see how desperately you want this and I promise you will get there with that attitude you have not to give up trying.

I would suggest before you start again, look into getting some herbal supplements in your local health food shop to help with the insomnia and anxiety, explain to them your concerns and issues and they will recommend the best supplements to suit you. If you are a coffee drinker, I would also cut it out along with sugary foods as these play a big part in anxiety and cravings when we stop. I know it feels like we are depriving ourselves of so much, but it may be only short term and worth it in the long run to achieve the smoke free life. Lastly, when you get back on track, stay close to us. Typing (venting) our thoughts on here can work wonders to ease a craving.

Wishing you strength and look forward to seeing you back very soon :)
