So I reached 54 days, struck a life hurdle and went back to smoking, very sad 😢 but it happened! I now have gained some good insights into my smoking patterns and will definitely work through them! All I know is that this community is a rock of support! Here’s to the end of smoking forever!! Decision made
I’m back ... Day one tomorrow : So I reached... - No Smoking Day
I’m back ... Day one tomorrow
Consider the 54 days, your last trial run before your final quit. Best.
Ah Frostytime , so good to read your post, delighted to have you back. You will be so much stronger and determined this time. Stay close to us, wishing you strength for tomorrow 💪🚭💗
Thank you lovely! I’m ready 💖
How are you getting on Frostytime ?
Start of Day 2, more resolved! Feel cranky with myself but have to do it this time Roisin01! Back to sleeplessness 😩😩😩 it is what it is! Want to stay in bed, but work calls! The night times the hardest for me, still going cold turkey but considering a 7mg patch from around 4pm?? We’ll see how I go tonight 💛
Hurrah 😀 you’ve picked yourself up and dusted yourself off. Great news 🌺
Yes!! Feel sad sometimes for the loss. Like grief or something. It’s a monumental change. But then the sense of freedom beats that hands down! 💕😀
What matters is that you're determined no to go back! Congratulations for that determination!
all the best!
😌 good for you frosty11

Please just say NO...... NO, No NO !!!
Still here and eating! 😂😂😂 but just started the couch to 5k app! It’s a great distraction and not hitting the sugar as hard, but it’s hard!! My main symptom is the insomnia 😩 but at least I’m still smoke free!!!
How are you getting on now Frostytime ? As you know the insomnia will settle down soon. You are doing great 💪🚭
You are an angel 😇 Roisin01 💛plugging away, my hurdles are the sadness, insomnia and anxiousness!!! Just have to keep reminding myself that smoking helps none of these! This too shall pass! Thank you for your support, it’s very much appreciated 💛 hope your are well too! x
That must have been a very very hard and frustrating thing to happen and your being positive again ..so go for it and be stronger ..
I remember last August when I got ill with pneumonia, when I got home from hospital , so probably was 5 days with a ciggy ...
I ditched the tobacco in the bin as told myself I cannot smoke again ..
The next day , I was in the bin getting the tobacco out and put it in the drawer and telling myself , “ it’s incase “ !!!
That’s how strong that bloody nicotine addiction is !
Then I had to have a reality check .. I then tipped the tobacco out into the bin ..
also I had a sub vape device .. that went into the garage and in my vice and I destroyed it and tipped the fluids down the drain ..
So I understand how strong it is and how easy it can be to slip back ..
I still get from time to time , little reminders but on the whole I’m smoke free now ,
still think it’s because of how ill I got and how my lungs got , did frighten the living daylights out of me which made me quit , but was still hard all the same with going cold turkey.. I believe if you can , it’s the best way in the long run ...
I guess the on,y tip I can say is , when you get a reminder urge , destact from it with something.. a glass of water , hoover the house , something you’d do without smoking at the same time ...Anything to get that urge away .. I see you can now post an SOS if you find your struggling ..
good luck and positive attitude 👍
Thanks Rig45! Hated myself for giving in at 54 days and back to square one! The anxiety for me is huge, always feel as though I have some terrible illness!!! I want to break this nicotine demon from my psyche so badly! I know how easy one puff turns back into a full on habit again! NOT this time, it won’t beat me! I just couldn’t go on and my anxiety smoking is just as bad anyway! Thank you so much for your support and I’m so happy you’ve achieved your quit! Congratulations to you, I’ll keep persevering! And just keep trying to beat this! Minute by minute at the moment! 💛
Have you found something to substitute... cycle ride , gym , swimming ???? To relax you and try rid the anxiety..
Also a visit to your Gp , get a health mot and put your mind at rest which will also give you a much deserved boost ..
Going to wait until the 3 month mark for the big health check, my body is going haywire at the moment! Always think the worst! The nicotine demon has many faces! Loaded up with natural remedies and cutting back on sugar has really helped with the exercise. This group is phenomenal as well! It shows me how many people are going through the same tough times! Thanks rjg45! Well done to you! 💛
Yes , we are all either at the beginning , the middle or seeing the light at the end of the tunnel lol
My issues at the moment
I move aircraft for my job and first thing in the morning before I’ve had a break
The aircraft are still full of hot first class breakfast ... It’s hard to resist lol
I need the willpower to resist sausages bacon and eggs at 6.00 in the morning 😂
Tough gig! I look forward to just craving the bacon and eggs ❣️😂😂 at this point just sleeping would be good! 😂😂😂
You’ll get there ..it’s tough as you know , but I’m sure you’ll do it this time ... that sleep dep is hard , I remember !!!
When did the insomnia get better for you?
Good couple of weeks i think , I was all over the place , going off , then wake up was on and off on and off ..
It really is unbelievable what these bloody things have done to us isn’t it ?
The break go from the addiction is a bugger for sure
my sleep patterns are all over the place anyhow as do shift work , Not nights , but getting up a 2’ / 3’s etc ..
I was off sick recovering from the pneumonia anyway when I quit
I still think it was easier for me as was Ill and smoking was the last thing on my mind with the pain I had in my one of my lungs and what was coming up .. sorry to be graphic but did shit the life out of me , The horrible pain I will not forget ..
Now , there’s no rattles and my breathing is clear as a bell and my peak flow readings are unbelievable for someone who’s smoked for 25/30 yrs !!!
So I guess that helped but all the same , still had to starved myself ..
I drink a lot coffee as well ... Funny as I hardly touched the stuff .Then from 2009 when my son was born , I drink gallons of the stuff 😂😂
Try some things to help you settle sleep wise .. warm drinks , herbal remedies for sleep
Wish you all best mate , please keep plodding as it really is short lived I promise you .. you will suddenly get the better of it ..
Keep us upto speed 👍
And I forgot to mention ...
give yourself a feel good well done and a pat on the back ..smile about it ..
That’s one thing I do and proud about now when I’m out and about , I see other people smoking , and apart from not being able to stand the bloody smell of them now , I’m chuffed that I dont do it now especially when I think how it ruled me ..routine cig here and one there and dominating you ..
So big smiles and give it the finger
Probably not appropriate to say this here but what helped me was telling myself - - “ you have to be one tough mother****er to quit smoking ! “ It helped steel my resolve .
I love this mantra! And so very true lilacinbloom!! Very much appreciated, very light headed today and feeling crap! So yes you do need to be a tough MF!!!! 👏👏👏💖💖💖
Hey - good for you frosty 11 . Whatever helps !!! 💖👌🤸♂️
Hey Frostytime - over a week now, congratulations!! How is things now?
Sadness always kicks in and anxiety coupled with insomnia, did you feel these symptoms strongly Roisin01 with going cold turkey? I’m still debating to get some low dose patches, it’s bloody awful!!!! 😩
I'm not ashamed to say after 6 months I still put a patch on if I feel the need..
Nicotine is a stimulant... that's my weakness(1 of em anyways)
I'd rather breath and live,
Than choke and cough

Awww Jeff that is so good to hear, I’m really struggling with low energy etc, you know the drill, this has really helped me. I’ll try a patch tomorrow as I really don’t want to go back, but it’s been really tough! Thank you 😊
I know in my heart I'm doing the right thing, it's just going to take 💯% effort. And then some.....
I'd sure like to hear if that helps you.. 🚭🔠 Jeff
I bought the 7mg patch and it has settled me down. Throughout this whole process I have gained a very strong understanding of myself and what my body feels with and without nicotine it is so powerful, I’m going to use the 7mg for a little while until the emotional psychological symptoms subside, thanks Jeff!
Great to have you back
Well done Frosty, keep going!
Awww thanks 🙏 helpmequit 12 days in again after slipping up, health anxiety at an all time high but started patches 7mg which has really helped the insomnia, needed sleep! Body aches, light headedness but after 35 years something has to give! Just fed up with smoking! Determined not to cave in! 54 days my last quit in May! Thank you for your support x💛x
How is things now Frostytime ?
1 month now Frostytime - how are you getting on, hope you have a wee treat lined up for yourself?
Still struggling Roisin01 I just look forward to sleep again! And then my nicotine demon kicks in and tells me maybe I was just born to be a smoker, but reading posts I reckon around the 3 month mark, my brain will be functioning better! At least I hope so! Thank you for your checkin! This page is fantastic ❣️
Hang on in there Frostytime - things will improve I promise. You will look back on this rough stage and smile and be so proud of yourself that you powered on....
Post anytime, we are here for you
Thanks Roisin01 you are an angel 😇 Friday night here and it’s been a long week! Nicotine is seriously an incredibly hard drug to beat! The anxiety and insomnia kills me!! I hold in such high regard every ex smoker! Looking forward to the day that smoking doesn’t infiltrate my every thought!!!!
How is things now Frostytime ?
Need to reset again Roisin01 very sad face! I feel like a complete failure! I’ll check in again soon! I’ll wait until I’m 30 days and keep reading peoples success stories, that helps me to know that it can be done! My big hurdles are the side effects of insomnia and anxiety, I’ll need to work through these ones! Thank you for your support, it is always very much appreciated ❣️🦋❣️ I’ll never give up giving up!!!!
Ah Frostytime - please don't be so hard on yourself - you are far from a failure and deserve so much recognition and admiration for trying to free yourself from Mr Nico. I can see how desperately you want this and I promise you will get there with that attitude you have not to give up trying.
I would suggest before you start again, look into getting some herbal supplements in your local health food shop to help with the insomnia and anxiety, explain to them your concerns and issues and they will recommend the best supplements to suit you. If you are a coffee drinker, I would also cut it out along with sugary foods as these play a big part in anxiety and cravings when we stop. I know it feels like we are depriving ourselves of so much, but it may be only short term and worth it in the long run to achieve the smoke free life. Lastly, when you get back on track, stay close to us. Typing (venting) our thoughts on here can work wonders to ease a craving.
Wishing you strength and look forward to seeing you back very soon
