Hi Cfarw , champix worked for me too! I stopped taking it much earlier than I was suppose to due to side effects, but I was well into my quit and felt good before I stopped. The longer your body is away from Mr Nic the better you will feel and the desire/need will be less. You will still have cravings but between now and then you will be strategizing on how to keep smoke free in different situations (stress, parties, friends etc)
Always remember why you quit. Keep that reason with you all the time. Write it down, keep it somewhere you will always have access to it and read/ look at it often. Do as much research as you can so you know what's happening to your body and mind at every stage.
Just popping in to say hello and welcome you to the forum. I have never used Champix so can't help you out with the question but a lot of people here have quit using it so you may get some good advice.
There's a lot of advice on general cravings in the "Pinned Posts" on the right and you can also search for specific things using the serach bar in the top right hand corner.
You're doing the right thing by trying to find out what to expect and preparing yourself for it. I found out the hard way and was driven up the wall with cravings. Knowing what to expect and learning as you go is a BIG part of the quitting process.
Anyway, sorry, I tend to waffle. I hope that helps. Post whenever you need to.
Welcome Ciara and congratulations on Day 2. I gave up 16 months ago cold turkey but know from members here who successfully quit with champix - some are well over a year, some 2 years - think it is recommended if no issues to use the full cycle of champix.
As Wanda and Nozmo suggested, read up as much as you can especially the pinned posts across the way. Knowledge is key to know what is happening when we quit both mentally and physically.
Wishing you success and look forward to reading your progress
I didn't use Champix but I do know about cravings!!!
The thing is, don't concern yourself with this now. In fact, don't worry about it until it happens. When and if you get cravings, you will deal with them and it will be OK. In truth, I suspect there are very few people who quit who do not experience cravings. What you need to know about cravings is that they pass and you just keep plodding on until you find yourself thinking of smoking less and less.
The best type of quit is an educated quit. Find out as much information as you can using the pinned posts on here as well as other sites like WhyQuit.com.
Keep going and if you need support, we are here, ready to help. ☺
