Hey all, new here. On day 19 and quit smoking cold turkey after 27 years. Stopped for lent which I think might be making me more determined, although I seem to be thinking about smoking more and more. Do these cravings ever stop? Don't want to spend the rest of my life thinking about ciggies.

Welcome LeeannaB , congratulations on 19 days smoke free, that is great! Plan that wee treat for your first big milestone of 1 month :P

I too stopped cold turkey over 3 and a half years ago and never looked back. I smoked for 27 years also and never thought I could do as smoked to deal with every day life, from getting up in the morning to socializing at work, birthdays, funerals, stressors, holidays etc... and hid behind Mr Nico for all those years.

It is perfectly normal to be still getting severe and frequent cravings but I promise, as time passes by it will get easier and less severe and frequent.

You are also heading for 'The Icky Threes' or 'The Blahs' as you are in the thick of the mental battle with your brain working very hard to gradually rewire, repair and recover. Below pinned post is worth a read if not already done so:

To help with this, avoid caffeine, alcohol and sugary foods as contribute greatly to craving episodes. Drink loads and loads of water and eat plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Have a bit of walk daily to clear the head. Take time out for yourself, relax in a bath with scented candles, meditate if that is something you are into, see pinned post below on a free app. Magnesium is also a great vitamin to help with this too.

Thankyou for the great advice, I have noticed a few people speak of the tricky 3 weeks, think I will lock myself away from my teenagers just to be safe.
