I quit using the support on the original nosmokingday forum and patches. That was I think 7/8 years ago. I had the odd slip (once/twice a year) when drunk but over the past year I have started smoking on nights out even when sober. Again this was only once a month max (I posted about this last year). Since April this year its been building up from one ten pack a week gradually until back smoking full time a month ago. Since then I am on a my second sinus infection and have kidded myself that the smoking has nothing to do with it. I have chronic sinus issues anyway but this is the worst its been in a couple of years.
So on Sunday I smoked 3 then binned the last one as they were making me feel sick and had a patch on since. It's not been so bad as I am working from home and still not well but last night I went to my sisters and saw her neighbour out smoking and I was thinking about smoking a lot last night. I am worried what will happen when I feel better as at the moment the feeling rubbish is stopping me wanting to smoke.
I really want to quit again and I hope that this is the one that sticks. I know I can do it but I had slipped back into my old smoking thinking ways.
Been reading lots of posts on here which has been a great help, you guys are great.
So I am saying hello and no doubt need a bit of support when I feel better.

Well done for finding the courage to quit again. I have been there, (3 relapses so far) so I understand where you are coming from. Oh so easy to fall into the 'just one' trap. I also learnt that it is never 'just one' 😔
Don't worry about how you are going to feel when you feel better. Cross this bridge when you come to it. For now, just concentrate on getting through each day. You may well really want to smoke when you feel better but equally it may not be anywhere near as bad as you envisage.
Hi. Like others here I have also had failed attempts but continue trying, although never had a quit as long as yourself. My longest was 13 months.
I have a friend like yourself who was quit for 6 years then re-started. The occasional odd ciggie then creeped up. She has now done away with the cigarettes but vapes - constantly! It just shows that at any time the nicodemon can take hold again.
Thanks so much everyone for responding. I really appreciate it. i think talking on here and reading lots is going to be the best support. I did think this morning that i could delay my shower cos I didn't need my patches other than a mental reminder not to smoke (cos I'm not really a smoker now lol) but got a craving 5 minutes ago so I am just about to sort that out.
It is weird to come back cos it feels so long ago but I remember the forum keeping me sane as i sat almost crying munching packets of biscuits in the first few weeks
