Ive been quit 48 days and also get light headed sometimes, think it's the extra oxygen getting to my brain.  After smoking so long I think it will take a while for our lungs to start to heal.   Your doing great

hi Connie.

welcome to our family.

you are in good company here.there's always someone to advise.support you )

i got dizzy 😵./light head I had that.only a few seconds.was mainly when walking.i probably looked drunk as it made me swerve? a bit on path.

I known your oxygen is now reaching places it hadent been Abel to go.its part of stoping.mine has almost gone..

39 days.well done.your well on your way.keep it up.

you take care

Hi, a huge welcome from me,  WOW amazing 39 days, very well done indeed.

Without doubt, your body will thank you over and over again, great decision to quit.  Ŵith summer just round the corner, isn't it a lovely thought, that you can socialise without smelling so very nasty.

Of course your body, is going to to take time to ajust, one persons withdrawal symptoms, may not be another's, so maybe just go with it.

Such a wonderful forum, please post and read often, for what it's worth, I truly believe it helps enormously, with that said, usually some one around if you hit that little brick wall.

Great to have you with us, doing amazing, well done.

Looking forward to updates, good or bad.

Hey Hidden  and Tracey3  , hope ye are enjoying the bank holiday weekend, lovely sunshine here too, but nippy!

Oh my word, I was only thinking yesterday, what date I gave up that, nasty, evil, drug, I'm truly not sure.

Just checked back there Tracey3  , you posted your Day 1 on 8 March, 2016, WOW! 54 Days smoke free, that is remarkable with all you have going on since you started, over 50 days badge on its way!   Be very proud of yourself!

Huge welcome Connie711   and congratulations on 39 days, that is great!   Well done!

I too quit cold turkey over 7 months ago and never looked back.   It is an ongoing roller coaster of a journey  but now feel most comfortable and happy in my quit.   It does get easier as each month passes by.

The light headiness and unusual breathing is perfectly normal and will improve over the next few weeks (see the pinned post across the page on common withdrawal symptoms).   Make sure you are keeping hydrated and drink lots of water also for those cravings!

With regards the cough, some do cough alot after quitting and some don't.   If you feel you need help this along, perhaps, vaporize with vicks for a few nights as it will assist in lifting mucus in your lungs.

If you are like me, I thought as soon as I quit I would feel on top of the world straight away.   Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that, the body is a great healer, but it is a gradual process, we need a little patience when seeing the benefits and may not appear as quick as we would like, but they will, so hang in there, it is so worth it.

Wishing you success and strength and look forward to reading your progress.... :)

PS Can you let me know your quit date for future badge milestones...

Hi Connie I'm day 26 quit and had been smoking for 35 years too. I haven't had a smokers cough or coughing up phlegm but I have had sinus and getting rid of a lot that way. I believe our bodies are all different and handle our situations differently too. I don't think anything about quitting is normal, I've jumped on this roller coaster and just have to see where it takes me and hope I can ride it out till the end
