Just been to Sunderland, looking for a particular shop which is in a seedier part of town. Got accosted in the street by some moron looking for fight. While we were having our "discussion" he kept one hand in his pocket so I honestly thought he had a knife in there and I was going to get stabbed. When I got away from him my first thought was, "I need a cigarette". I didn't have one but my ecig took some hammer.
And the shop was shut!
Still got adrenaline pumping round my system.
Give me internet shopping any day!!!!

What a nasty experience Nozmo. There are too many of these mindless nutters around but thank goodness you're okay. I bet you weren't expecting anything like that to happen early on a Saturday morning and well done to you for not rushing to buy cigarettes. It's strange the way in moments of stress that cigarettes come to mind even when we think we're managing just fine without them. Hope all's well with you. L xx
Yeah, I've calmed down now but not an ideal way to start the weekend. It was all to do with the derby match tomorrow. He was a Newcastle "fan" looking to start something with a Sunderland supporter. He started off asking for directions and then it turned a bit nasty. I think it was only my accent that stopped it going any further. This is why I hate derby weekend - it brings out all the nutters from both sides. He must be completely off his rocker to do what he's doing IN Sunderland!!!
I really could have done with a cigarette though; as you say, strange how we go back to it at times like this.
Anyway, it's good to hear from you again. How's is it going? Still happy in your quit?
You did well not smoking😊i worked in sunderland a few years back and the fans in the northeast are very passionate about there football clubs!i havent had no confrontion since i quit but hopefully i react like u did nozmo.
Yup in my Ex country (South Africa) it became a daily problem where you are actually tormented to loose your temper and then either got stabbed or shot...
Stay calm and enjoy the journey and sure you know now that cigarette would not have helped...!
Thanks Hercu. Glad I didn't succumb but it's still a shock how quickly the thought pops into your mind. It's easier to dismiss those thoughts these days.
When I read your title, started to get worried, but no need, YOU DONE GREAT, WELL DONE!! That was a huge trigger you have overcome, the aul footie again and that eejit! Delighted for you and glad it did not turn out much worse......
Good for you, hope you have treated yourself to something nice, you so deserve it!
Hows the weather with ye? Again you are so lucky living so close to a beach, it is glorious here, was just saying if had of known it was going to be this nice could have headed off to the beach for the day, nearest one is about 2 hours away, maybe next week, off from Wednesday till Wednesday for Easter....
Glad to hear all's well Nozmo but I'll be staying well out of Newcastle town centre tomorrow while the match is on. These derby matches cause problems at the best of times but with relegation on the horizon I think there could well be trouble tomorrow.
I'm doing okay and still not smoking but just occasionally it's still there in the back of my mind, even after 5 months. I thought I would have been passed that stage by now so find it a bit depressing if I'm honest.
I've spotted Rowens (Roisin) and Hercu on here so it's good to know all's well with them.
I'll have to start getting more involved - more to keep me focused than anything else I think.
Very wise staying away from the city centre Linda. I'm going to hide at the beach as usual, no matter what the weather is like.
It sounds like you're doing better than OK to me! My mother stopped about ten years ago (maybe longer) and she still gets the odd urge. It's a funny old game...smoking AND football.
Hey Nozmo, how are you doing with that footie result and stuck to your plan to go to the beach...hubby not happy either with the Liverpool result, anyway, hope you ok....
Hiya Roisin, went to the beach with my son, climbed some rocks, had fish and chips and topped it off with a game of pirate mini golf! Very enjoyable! Happy with the draw I suppose.
Liverpool really threw it away didn't they! Commiserations to your husband.
