Day 2: Cold turkey

Through day 1. That was hard. I wasn't craving to smoke all day, but when the cravings hit, they hit hard! I was going to go cold turkey, but Im thinking about getting some patches just in case. I know its just day 2 but feels great to have gone a full day without smoking.

Really well done. These next couple of days will be the hardest. No matter what you have to stick to NOPE not one puff ever.... no matter what. Just take it a day at a time and post regularly here.

Today you will be smoke free.... congratulations :)

Fantastic, well done!

I really believe in celebrating the milestones - of course it feels great to have done a whole day - you're a star!

You're one third of the way through the hardest part - already :)

Keep it up shxfee :D

How fantastic, no rules In quitting, so do what ever is right for you, the nicotine will be out you body in 3 days, for me I used the patch method, and it worked fine.

This is a addiction like any other, so you have to be a little selfish, do what you need to do, just don't smoke.

Brilliant day one done, I so hope your proud of that

Well done on making the decision to quit. Like everyone says first 3 days are the hardest and there's no shame in using NRT if it helps you quit. I used an ecig for the first 3 weeks I've binned it now but it did help me in the beginning. I didn't want to get addicted to vaping so I always intended to get rid of it once I felt more confident in my quit. You can do the same with any of the NRT products, gradually weaning yourself off. Hour by hour, day by day is the way to go. It does get easier. I am just short of 6 weeks quit now, and I know I'll never smoke again. A few uncomfortable days is worth the freedom from nicotine addiction. Just stick with it

Thanks everyone! After hearing you guys out, I have decided to suck on lozenges. They seem to be working so far. I keep getting this idea to puff a little smoke one last time.

Well done x I think everyone will tell you that how you quit isn't important, as long as you stop smoking :) it is your quit, just don't puff a little smoke! In the early days I did a lot of deep breathing and mimicking smoking ( even with hand actions) must have looked like crazy lady and certainly felt like one. It helped me. Keep going, because however you get through the first few days really won't matter in the long term :)

Thanks, I might try out pretend smoking. I hate to admit it, but I miss breathing out a cloud of smoke. and having something between my fingers.

Of course your going to miss it, it's sch a strong addiction, but indeed it does become less intense, doing great.

Congratulations on your quit. The NOPE and breathing work for me, and I'm still using them at nearly six weeks. In those very early days I broke my day down: morning before the days' activities, morning through to lunch time, lunch time, and on. It helped a lot because I could say to myself during my very difficult afternoons 'Okay, I'm struggling this afternoon, but I've managed 6, 7, or 8 hours already, I can do another 3, 4 hours to this evening'. Come the evening I was on the home run for the day. I don't have to do this that much now, although still having 'turns'.
