Day 2 and I've just registered on the site as in need of some understanding moral support! An impromptu attempt but more determined than ever. Can't really use NRT due to a past reaction and not a big believer in medications due to the side effects. Had a few cravings today but managed to passify the moment and soon got over it! You would think that being a nurse and seeing the effects every day would be enough of a deterant!! Gotta do it once and for all so looking to you guys for some encouragement!
Day 2 done - cold turkey.: Day 2 and I've... - No Smoking Day
Day 2 done - cold turkey.
Well done on your decision to quit Rach. You will find a wealth of knowledge on here, I have:D. Good luck with your quit
Hi Rach,
Welcome to the forum and congrats on day 2!!!
I was just talking about RN's and Medical Assistants smoking and how you think the awareness would be higher BUT we the nicotine addiction is not bias to any walk of life or profession and you have most likely felt even worse at times as people expect more because you are a nurse.
Well.... you've come to the right place, the people on here are awesome and so supportive.
Take one withdrawl at a time... you CAN do it!!!
Congratulations RachB82
Congratulations RachB82 on reaching day 2.
Strangely enough, just about all nurses I've known smoked!! Must be something about the nature of the job - having a smoke being the "stress relief". Nowadays though it must be just too hard to smoke as a nurse - you'd have to go outside etc.
All the best - lots of deep breaths helps me.
Thank you for your kind words of support. I can already see how this forum and the support of others is encouraging so many people to persevere! Hoping my concentration levels improve tomorrow, got a busy day ahead!
