End of week 1

Well, this time last week I was unsure about quitting the following day - it being a Sunday, and a day that I was home most of the day. Well, I did it and I'm well chuffed!!

I've been to the the 'stop smoking' lady at Boots twice now. I have to say she is fairly useless - a very nice lady none the less! She is so unsure about the facts and has to refer to her notes all the time. Couldn't even find out how much nicotine was in a single cigarette! Still, she is giving me the NRT I ask for and as I'm over 60 I don't have to pay. She said not to use patches, but I already had some, so used them, and she begrudgingly gave me another pack, saying it would be my last. She has no experience of NiQuitin oral stips, so I'm teaching her a thing or two!!

Hey ho never mind, with my free NRT and the help of this site I'm at the end of my first week. Really pleased although I'm craving like mad today!!!

xx

That's just fantastic Miss F! :D

I can absolutely feel the determination and sense of achievement shining from your post. Getting the first week parked is a real milestone and I would be willing to bet that you're not going to be derailed now even if you do have a divvy Boots woman to contend with.

Well done Miss F! :)

I think possibly I'm doing well because I'm using all the 'tools' I used when I gave up booze. Im definately an addict. Giving up alcohol was the hardest thing I've ever done - exactly the same as you're all going through giving up the ciggies...........x

you have hit the nail on the head there all us addicts need to find the right tools to quit our addiction and then finding new ones to stay quit

Really glad to hear you're still with us, Miss F, and doing so fantastically well! :D

I do so admire you. It must be hard, having quit drinking too. What do you reward yourself with? I do hope you're finding something you can do to treat yourself on a regular basis. :)

Thanks x Cigarettes were my 'treats' when I gave up drinking. I was a highly functioning alcoholic, but non the less an alcoholic. Took me a long time to admit that! I had to make sure I was comfortable with my sobriety before I quit the fags......that has taken 18 months. I'm using all the distraction tools again! Ugh..... My treat now is a nicotine strip - lol 😜 xx
