Well I never! Swishing my soft hair all day

Hi everyone,

Start of dat 4 today, I still haven't told anyone about my quit, is that weird? Even my children don't seem to have noticed

I spent some time trawling through some posts on the health section. Really interesting, reassuring and useful to read. As a newbie it is great to hear about some of the benefits you guys have experienced.

For me..... Definitely softer hair today, swish! Swish! Should sign up for hair shampoo advert:D.

Think the difficulty sleeping appeared last night :( but I won't stress about it yet. Overall I feel I have more energy, self esteem has had a boost and I have hair that I haven't felt for ages.

Would love to hear some of your 'Well I never' things that have happened as a result of your quit :)

Off to work now, unable to access forum until I get home but want to say to all us newbies... Keep going, we are doing it, have a happy smoke free day all :)

  • Hi,

Looks like you quit about the same time I did. I started spontaneously on Sunday evening, around 8-9pm (can't remember) right after my dinner, and before my shower. It was the last stick in the pack, I remembered whilst I was burning it, I was thinking to myself, should/would this be the final, do I start my quit now ?....

It was weird, so I told myself, anyway, let's take a shower, and then watch TV, go to bed, and if I so decide to delay the quit start date, go buy a pack on Monday morning right after I hit the office. With that 'comforting' thought in mind, I went about the rest of Sunday evening.

Monday morning, I thought to myself, wasn't soooo bad afterall, and I've got a 12 hour headstart, might as well give it a go. And here I am on Day 4. :D

Sometimes I feel like my lungs hurt when I take a deep breath, but I'm still hanging on. Another 11 hours to go before I hit the sack and call it a successful day.

    Well I Never...

    1. Thought I could make it to Day 4! :D

    2. Knew that my fingers have no smell to them.

    3. Thought I actually spent so much time walking to the lift, going to the lobby, walking to the smoking corner, taking a fag or two sometimes, and then making my way back to my desk. I can spend lots more time on my work now.

    4. Look forward to my runs ! It has always been tough to run, but I find myself looking forward to it.

Anyway, I should be close to bedtime or knocked out by the time you're back from work, hope you have had a successful quit day.

Day 4 is probably a tough one for me, hence I'm lurking around the forum lots. Drifting till the urge goes away.

  • Sleep well edge. I am looking forward to hearing how your day went.

    I liked your Well I never experiences:D

  • Really lovely to see so many new forum members storming towards freedom. :)

Welcome Edge! Excellent post if I may say so. It really surprised me how quickly I started to experience the benefits of quitting and it's clearly the same for you. I shall look forward to reading more of your posts. It is lovely having members from all around the world- a great big nicotine free global village in fact! :D

Cam, with me the first thing I noticed was the quality of my skin improving. It was quite dramatic and within a couple of weeks people were commenting on it and telling me I looked younger. The other thing I noticed early on was that I had more energy (despite my sleep being disturbed for a while) and that has continued to be the case ever since.

Those are the things to remind yourself of when you hit a difficult patch. It really is SO worth the pain. :)

    Well done all!

Hey all, really enjoyed reading things that you guys have seen improve. Another thing I have noticed about myself too is a definite increase in energy

  • Hi Camellia

Well done on day four. It's great when you notice something has changed, I haven't actually noticed much except:

I have an improved sense of smell

    I have loads more energy

I seem to have more time - it's shocking how much time is spent either smoking or thinking about next cigarette.

    You are doing so well:D
