I plan that tomorrow is my first day

Hi everyone,

I'd like to join in, I have quit smoking about 3 times now and have ended up going back on them. I have always done the cold Turkey, apart from once when I tried the patches.

I plan to Stop Smoking tonight, I will smoke my last cigarette before going to bed and do the Cold Turkey method.

I have done it before, so know that I can do it again, I think I've been putting it off as I know that I'll have the cravings for the first 72 hours. I've started reading some of your post and articles on here, there are some really good tips and its very motivating.

I may need your support, so thanks in advance

D

Hi D

Welcome to the forum, well you've done the right thing coming on here, we're all going through it at different stages. Anything you want to know just shout and you will be inundated with helpful advice. My tip is to write down why you want to stop and read it when the jitters come, and remember whatever stopping throws at you it isn't going to kill you, whereas....................

well done on you deciding to quit, with you all the way

Thanks everyone for all the support, gosh so many replies.

Well after reading the tips section, I've been to Sainsbury and stocked up on Orange Juice, Cranbury Juice, yogurts, blueberrie and grapes, so they should keep me going for the day LOL.

I loved the idea someone had about using blu tack and making it into a big ball, so I'm gonna do that to keep my hands busy.

My reasons for quitting are health, I am very weezy at the moment, especially when I am lying down at night, and sometimes at work I will get awful fits of coughing so its a bit embarrassing in an open plan office.

I am looking forward to my skin looking clearer as its the first thing I noticed about an acquaintance who has recently quit.

I'll be back tomorrow.

cheers again

D

I've stopped smoking

Hi everyone,

Had my last ciggie before I went to bed last night and so far so good, it will be 12 hours in 30 mins, not that I am counting LOL, I want to get past the 72 hours.

I have a patch in my bag, but plan only to use that as a very last resort, I want to do this cold turkey. I have the fruit juices, fruit, mints to hand.

Thanks again for the support,

D

How you getting on?

Ive had terrible cravings today, eating my way thru it. Ive inhalator tho, so you doin it cold turkey is hardcore!

You at work?

I find it easier at work as i can look at and smelll the smokers, which puts me off. Then suddenly i get an urge to smoke, weird. Im feeling confident tho, the weekend will be a test.

We gotta stick at it bud.

Well done D, remember use the patch if you have to, we are all different and it does not matter how we get there, we just have to get there.

i remember counting mins in the first few days, so don't worry, every hour you do you will never have to do again.

Let us know how you are getting on.

hi ya, we can try and support each other.

So far it has not been too bad, the cravings are coming very often, and it is very much on my mind. My hands feel a bit strange, like a bit numb. I've just got the blu tack from stationery cupboard now and am taking myself out for a walk.

I agree that being at work makes it a bit easier as you have things to occupy yourself. I think I will be doing lots of spring cleaning tonight to keep the mind and hands busy.

We'll get through this, and it will be so worth it, I'll keep popping on here and let you know how its going.

This forum is excellent and it is lovely to have the moral support. I'v emailed some friends this morning announcing I have stopped smoking but I don't thinks people always understand as they didn't even acknowledge it. It's not the first time so they prob think oh here we go again LOL.

chat to you all laters
