10 Months Done

And I am one happy little bunny, I can honestly say this is the best thing I have ever done for myself! Gone are the hacking cough, the wheezy chest, the blue fingers and toes, not to mention all the benefits I've rediscovered.

I'm on my second day of my new gym membership and am embarrassed to admit that after about 15 minutes I am so puffed out that I find it difficult to talk, then I think of this time last year when I was in A&E, hooked up to the oxygen machine because, yep, you guessed it, I could not breathe - but, gone are the puffers, in come the trainers and with a bit of luck the old Ramipril and Simvastatins will become a thing of the past too.

I know many of our members have stopped for millions of reasons, but the gift we give ourselves, and our loved ones, by no longer pumping ourselves full of toxic chemicals is more valuable than any other precious material on earth.

Thank you to everyone who has been there for me on the most rewarding endeavour of my life.

Tell you what, Jen, you're an example of what I mean about how the anti-smoking add campaigns are missing a trick. A 'before' and 'after' showing you in an oxegyn tent and then working out a the gym would speak volumes.

Well done girl! 10 months is SUCH an achievement as is effectively reinventing yourself. You deserve the biggest pat on the back ever. :D

I shall be cheering you down the home straight in a couple of months (and I bet you really will be sprinting!) :)

Fantastic post Jenni, I can feel the positive vibes from here. Getting fit is a bit like quitting. Very painful in the beginning but a year later you suddenly realise you're running up and down stairs effortlessly. You wonder why you never did it before!

Unfortunately like smoking, some of us relapse!!!

Thank you everyone, I am as proud as punch to be honest :p I am so glad I took this amazing journey, I've "met" some wonderful people, laughed until I cried/pee'd myself, sprayed the pc with coffee/tea at KK's utterings and most of all have stopped killing myself by drawing on the amazing support and camaraderie of all us quitters. Thank you for saying I inspired you Cups, the thought that my ramblings have inspired someone else to keep slogging through is really touching :o As far as the gym goes - I'm off again tonight
