Wish I could come up with a more original name for this thread, but my brain is on strike. Here we go with the next 24 hours. The little monster inside me (I call him Nico) is going nuts. Hes not happy and is punishing me for starving him. Hes having a little tantrum.
Day 2: Wish I could come up with a more... - No Smoking Day
Day 2

Thanks. I'm actually questioning today how much I really want to be a non smoker. My motivation is waning.
I won't lie. I've brought out the ecig and have been sucking on that for the last couple of hours. I know, "at least it's not a cigarette", but the ultimate point of quitting smoking (for me anyway) is to cut the nic dependence. Using the ecig, I'm just dragging out the suffering. In my mind I have failed. All that crap yesterday for nothing. Back to square one?
Nono, I'm *fairly* confident I'm not going back to smoking cigarettes. Besides my morning craving, I haven't really thought about lighting up. Thinking about it now actually makes me feel a bit ill. It's just that the withdrawals (I'm assuming) are not pleasant for myself, nor anyone around me. I'm a single mum. I still have to function for my daughter, and sans nicotine, I certainly wasn't a functioning mum.
I'm disappointed in myself. Two steps forward, one step back. Still moving, but not as quickly as I would like.
Keep going Hoot. Sorry to hear you're having a bad day. Message if you need to 😊
TG has it right Hoots- don't go beating yourself up because you've found you need a little assistance. You wouldn't think you had failed if you used a wheelchair or crutches for a while if you broke a leg would you?
You can wean yourself off the e-cig or whatever other form of NRT you use when the time is right. There's no right or wrong way to quit and going CT from day one is not the right way for everyone. I certainly couldn't have done it and I don't feel any less proud of my quit for having needed some help initially.
You've got through day one and you're getting to grips with day two and that's a fantastic achievement! Well done Hoots, and you use that e-cig as much as you need to for the time being.
Some people can quit cold turkey and succeed in doing so. Not everyone is made that way though unfortunately. Some of us have to adopt different means of quitting, be it champix, NRT or eCigs. They all do the same job in the end. They stop you from taking in tar, carbon monoxide and the other 4 thousand odd toxins and cancer causing chemicals contained in tobacco smoke.
Don't put yourself down for using eCigs. I am 32 days as of right now without tobacco and feel so much better for it, and I have eCigs to thank for that. We all have our different methods, you use what works for you, all that really matters is that whatever the method....you won't be smoking. The method is not important....the end result is.
You guys are all right. I shouldn't beat myself up. Stay tuned for my day 3 post
