Coming to the end of day 2

Hi

all i can say is i cant believe im here typing this saying that im near the end of day 2 of a smoke free life

i smoked 20 a day since 18 now 34....woke up monday morning and started on the lozenges 4mg. yesterday i had 11 of them  and about the same today  but.....hopefully i can slowly take less of them as the weeks go on.

the hardest part is when at work and i get stressed my mind still clicks into 'i'll go for a quick fag' the dissapointment when i realise i cant is crazy and my mind goes nuts :D but there is no way im touching those fags again.

this forum is great, love reading the positive posts from the quitters, well done guys :D

my high of today was when i got in and my 11 year old said 'dad have you smoked today' when i told her no she then proceeded to inspect the smell of my hands and clothes, little do my 3 kiddies know they are the very single reason i have decided to quit.

best regards

mike

Mike that is so sweet about your little girl, I bet you are just coming to the point where you can smell other people who smell of cigs, it’s so disgusting and gave me a real wakeup call when I smelt a friend who smoked for the first time after my quit.

I have never wanted to be a reformed smoker but you cannot help how your nose starts to work, it makes me gag now after all these years as a puffer.

For your health this is the best step you can take to ensure seeing your children grow and all those grandchildren you will probably have.

So congrats on your quit and keep posting and talking Good Luck x

PS you would have been just as stressed with a cig as with out believe me

thanks :D

on day 6 now still going strong

its getting easier, like i said before the hardest parts are when my brain seems to try and go into auto pilot and make me think 'ill have a fag now' almost forgetting ive quit .......weird

anyways, lungs/chest feel clearer, feel more alert so its worth it :p

i have moved to patches and now eat a smint when i get a craving, strange but it helps

Congrats on your first smoke free week! :D

I also got through the first week with mints & gum. Strange when you forget you don't smoke & grab your coat & realise "oh yeah, I don't smoke anymore" aint it?!

Thank you all for your kind comments.

It does feel great to say I won over the fags and as each year passes on the 29th march I feel proud of Myself. Non smokers can never appreciate how hard it is to quit. I really went to hell and back but trust me everyone just starting out its worth it in the end. It really helped change my life, I now goto the gym now three times a week, lost over two stone, I enjoy keeping fit and have lots of energy....something I never ever had when I smoked and there is the added bonus of not smelling like an ashtray.

Keep it up everyone :-)
