Your body is going through a lot of changes, and chest infections aren't uncommon when you quit first.
But, trite as it might sound, it's a hell of a lot better than the alternative.
I really hope things pick up for you soon, smoking won't solve anything, and if you hang in there it will get a lot better!! Am guessing your doctor is keeping an eye on things?
mayeb also pick up a copy of Allen Carr? It will help you reprogramme your brain
You've got to day 39, what a waste of great determination wasted having a fag now would be. I can honestly, having been there, promise you two things if you smoke now.
1. Smoking will a million % not cure your chest infection.
2. You will feel so guilty, depressed and ashamed if you have one, which will in turn makyou start smoking to cope.
The one thing I always remind myself of is I've smoked for x amount of years, if I thought the pain, hard work and suffering would be over in a month, then I'm definitely kidding myself.
There are plenty of ex smokers that are living proof these hard times pass. Stick with it......most quitters cant get through a week never mind a month, you've done so well, don't ruin it.
Still not smoking but struggling will see my smoking cessation advisor tomorrow don't really want anymore antibodies but may need them. Maybe not in the right to quit as I still think about smoking. Fresh smoke still smells nice stale smoke awful.

Mags, don't stress, you can do this!!
If you didn't want it, you'd have been down the shop faster than you can say Marlboro Man, so the fact you posted speaks volumes!!
Whatever your advisor and GP say, do it, lean on us, and any quit aids you use!!
We all think about smoking, but we don't do it, and we don't have to, hang in there you *can* do this!!
Mags I'm just coming to finishing my first week in 9 mins. To see people like yourself on day 39 is absolutely fantastic and a inspiration to a newbie like me. Its early days for me and I've been here before but if you tell your mind you can do it you will succeed. Amazing lady!!!
Mags youv come so far...39 days!!You are a non smoker!!!
A bad day will happen at any time and you have to draw on the strength of your early days and remember your reasons for quitting in the first place......
Health is precious and about as good a reason there is to not throw away your quit"....
You are doing better than you know chin up and onwards. x
