Day 8 - Nothing tastes right?

So im on day 8, safe to say im good still stressing but mostly because nothing tastes correct everything tastes horrible and like its not the same things? even though 9 days ago i LOVED them?

I cant make it through my days without a coffee ive even tried 3 different types of instant, lattes and cappuccino in the hope something would taste right?

Everyone keeps saying it will pass its just my taste buds coming back to normal but im starting to give up hope on this!

My hands are also 'bored'? im on patches and gum (fairly sick of chewing!), i purchased a Ecig for when i go out with my friend in the next couple of weeks for birthday drinks as a back up (due to smoking areas being right outside the clubs entrance) seems to make more sense that i use a Ecig then spark up. someone has told me to use this if im really bored and tempted again but i dont really want to because surely they are as addictive as sparking up?

You still here, Clazz?

I'd say 99% of quitting is mental. So if your brain is ready, it'll be easy!

You'll only need to deal with the other 1%. And that's easy too :)

Cheers, Steve

Hi I still find now nearly 7 months that things i used to love while smoking now truly taste rank and smell, wow I have become very sensitive to some smells as it makes me feel sickly!

Oh they are, I lost a long quit last year and I'm sure that was largely down to me using an e-fag.

They're great for some people, and anything that gets people off the coffin nails is good *but* it's very easy to slip back into your old habits with them, and they are pretty damn sililar to the real thing, so you can wind up feeling like a smoker.

If you do use it, maybe try a nicotine free version? Then you're just huffing steam, enough to shut up the craves but not physically addictive.

Hiiii im still here, just lurking in the shadows - things are starting to taste a bit better now, and things are starting to move however alot still tastes bitter/salty?! - oh wells, im now on day 11 and doing good!

i no longer feel the boredum which i guess is a good thing, at my quitter group i learnt that i have lost at least a hour of my life which is why i noticed it!

I'd say not so much 'feeling like a smoker' as 'continuing to be a nicotine addict'.

GL is bang on that anything to get you off the 'coffin nails' is great, but you need to be absolutely clear on the difference between quitting tobacco use and breaking free from nicotine addiction; as she says, whilst you're still 'using' it's very easy to slip back into old habits:eek:

Although the e cig doesn't contain tobacco it does contain nicotine so be careful you don't overdose on it all. You probably shouldn't use the patch, the gum and the e cig together.

The e cig will only be addictive if you smoke it constantly all day every day. If you stick to your plan of just using it for your nights out then it may stop you joining in with the smokers if you become close to giving in.

Much better to wake up the morning after and be proud you are still smoke free rather than wake up back at day 1.

Just remember you only have to pass the entrance once on the way in and once on the way out. The smell alone might put you of anyway.

Hold a cut up straw in your hand at home or swap the gum for the inhalator. Someone used to stick cotton wool with mint oil on it inside it and puff on that instead of the nicotine cartridges :)
