Tips/Advice Needed

Hi Folks,

Rather than running away from the nicodemon when he starts, I'm trying to find ways to beat him up so I can handle the craves and keep the motivation strong.

Just preparing myself for the bad days, and i'm noticing it more difficult today so need a plan of attack!

How do you beat yours?

Hello Mrs Mash

I beat mine by making sure I have enough to do and keep myself busy with.

I wrote all my usual trigger places and changed my routine.

This forum is an excellent place if you have a craving. Just read and answer posts for a few moments whilst you are craving.

Deep breaths helped me too, along with a little walk away from what I was doing.

all the best

xx

Just keep having a word with yourself, you've done it before so you know you can do it, don't let the filthy little beggar get a hold again! That and diversion - have you tried candycrush

Hi Mrs M :)

My mini-mantra...............

Deep breaths to relax

Drink some water

Don't give up, instead...

Delay for a couple of minutes to let the craving pass

Do something else to take your mind off it

Discuss your feelings here!

Found it somewhere on t'internet.

Steve

I find walking helps (even if only round the block) as does sugar free chewing gum. Also, I keep telling myself that craves only last 3 minutes and then they'll be gone.

I have a 5 minute cry, feel sorry for myself for a further minute and then get on with the day. I always feel a bit ridiculous for crying in the first place, which actually makes me pull myself together!

- When the cravings got really strong at work i'd walk away from my desk and go for a short walk outside, by the time I got back to my desk I felt ok.

- Lots of mental screaming at the nicodemon helps too, language that would make a salty sea dog proud as well :D

- Exercise helped much more than I thought it would, it naturally makes you feel better plus you have the added benefit of getting healthier whilst you do it too! win win situation :D

- Lots and lots of chunky kit kats :) we all need something to get us through the day in the beginning.

Basically do whatever helps you through those first few days as they are a doozy!
