My reasons

The first is quite brutal - if I don't stop, smoking will kill me in a horrible, painful way that I will have spent £1000s facilitating - this is madness, and I am not mad

The second - If I stop smoking I can afford a telescope, even if I do only use it once and then leave it in a cupboard, it will still be cheaper and less harmful than smoking :)

The third - I am fed up of punctuating my life by when I can have a ciggie - to the point where I might be eating the best meal, in the best restaurant EVER and I'm treating the various courses as an interlude between cigarettes, and will enjoy any social experience LESS if I can't break away to feed the Demon - enough of that.

Reasons

Your 3rd reason speaks to all of us.

Your 1st reason is the 10,000 pound elephant in the room that we all try to ignore.

Your 2nd reason is priceless!
