Almost finished Day 1....

I had my last cigarette at about 10pm last night.

I have to admit, today has been a big struggle despite help with nicotine replacement lozenges. Have been feeling a mixture of fogginess and extreme irritability (culminating this afternoon when I had to go into the bathroom and shout at myself! )

I do really want this to be the last time I do day 1. I have tried several times in the past. Really hope I stick out tonight and don't cave and get late night tobacco delivery...

Roll on day 2!

:D You're doing good! I'm only on day 3 but I must say day 1 was really hard physically and mentally, even though I was not tempted to smoke. If shouting at yourself is what it takes then keep shouting at yourself (but be worried if your reflection starts answering back :p)

Have something nice to eat/drink/watch, have a nice bath, treat yourself kindly and go to bed early! Then your day 1 is over and you'll be in to day 2 like a champ :)

Or - the Gruffalo could use mice as NRT alternative :D

Welcome Gruffy!

Gruffalo was my user name over years of internet gaming (I know sad sad)

There's nothing sad about gaming! (I may be biased :D)

Thanks for all your replies. You've made me feel very welcome!

I keep getting waves of anger and irritability which I am attributing to my quit as I am usually a bit more stable emotionally.

I take this is normal? How long does it last? I've been pretty bad today and am thinking that usually day 2 and 3 are a lot worse so the next few days are going to be really rough....

Thanks for your reply Kat! I think I need to look at the bigger picture etc and the benefits. This time next week I'm sure I'll be feelling a hell of a lot better! But right now I feel like I could really rip someone's head off and eat it! I just feel so angry and irritable but also quite foggy etc.

I'm going to be GREAT company the next week or so...

Yes, I definitely found it easier to be where other people were not for those first few days :D

But, Gruffalo, it's quite true- it really does get easier. I'm still on the early part of my journey but when I look back to how I felt 3 weeks ago I really can't believe how much easier it is now. And it will be the same for you. Honest.

Good on you for making it through Day 1 :)

Hello G, nice to meet you :)

I have returned and back to the beginning. In my last quit, through experience it is like a roller coaster ride. NEVER, ever think you are clear and be warned those little craves hit in big waves sometimes. BUT, it's how YOU treat them that counts.

Very good advise on the early bed routines in the beginning. I call it the 3 B's

BATH BED AND BOOK lol...it really does help. You are doing the best thing and that is chatting to all on here...

GOOD LUCK :)

How is it going?

Hope you are managing! I have a big list of things to do today and hope that that helps. My partner suggested I get some lollipops or something tonight to get me through that tricky time when watching tv...would that help you?

Regards

Cclarke :)
