Here I go again...

This is my first post on the forum - hopefully the first of many positive posts!

I stopped (temporarily, as it turned out) in November last year. I'd had a number of failed attempts in the months leading up to that - from reading The Easy Way, to hypnotherapy. I then started with Champix - and had my last cigarette on the 25th November. I made it easily through Christmas & New Year (the cold weather probably helped) and did quite well for quite a few months (though I was quite emotional in the week after I stopped taking Champix).

I then had 'just one drag' of a cigarette on a night out. Then I did that again. And again. But it was reasonably controlled, as it was only when I was out and drinking.

Then, on my last day at my old job, I got some bad news (not even really that bad), and had one cigarette in the sober day time. Then only a few days later, was involved in a 'fight' with someone - and bought a packet. I stopped after those, for a couple of weeks.

Then I went on holiday - and I smoked the entire week. Then stopped again. Then I was away for a weekend, smoked the whole weekend, then stopped again. Then I started buying a pack here or there, and starting and stopping.

I decided I would join in on Stoptober - so I decided to use patches, to hopefully take the edge off. It actually worked quite well - until the evil voice in my head talked me into not putting a patch on one morning, so I could smoke instead. And I did. So, here I am now, 16 days on, starting at Day 1 again. But this time I really want to do it. I've got to be stronger than before, and just not smoke. I put my patch on this morning - and I actually feel fine, but it is only Day 1.

I look forward to checking in here as often as I can, and reading the stories of others' - and hope that this time it is forever! :o

Hello Flipper, welcome to the forum, a massive "Get in there" for deciding to kick the habit once and for all. You've probably noticed there are some really savvy quitters on here who know every incarnation that the Nicdemon uses to keep us hooked, they also know the best ways to hit him were it really hurts. Keep posting with your progress and good luck with your quit ;)

Sounds abit like my last year to be honest mate! BUT the main thing is that your head keeps pulling you back in the right direction! End of the day you wouldnt bother trying again after failing for the crack of it so you know you want to quit and thats the first step. Im just finishing off my new day 1 so I wish you all the luck in the world xxx
