Dave,
Welcome back and hopefully you'll be staying for a while. Have you appreciated the sig you have displayed? Some Team 10 members have been celebrating their year anniversary...not all though.
It is difficult and some of us go through loads of 'dress rehearsals'. I did 31 years smoking and jokingly say 30 of them trying to stop...some small degree of that is true. Now got 13 months done and it's great. But the first few days were difficult for me. Then when I got through that, the next few days were difficult. I just couldn't understand what was the issue as I'd spent so much time planning this quit knowing it was the one....only because I was going to force it to be THE one.
The missing part was understanding it all and you'll know that we advocate John's Read, Read, Read mantra. It's true! Get on top of this shit and understand it. Educating yourself to what's happening takes you a huge distance towards getting a successful quit. I'm not saying it's the 'magic bullet' but does help and really what have you got to lose by giving it a shot?
As we know - quitting isn't as hard as not starting again!
Not starting again is the key to it and you have to NOT want to start again. Read and understand your enemy. Be prepared for him when he rears his ugly head and convinces you that you need to smoke.
You can do it Dave - you know you can. But you must believe in yourself!
Many thanks for kind messages of support, and thanks for great advice i will be reading up on the enemy in the next few days i have a few books a will read again also read up on the web.Good to hear that some team 10 members still quit.
I have found reading and listening to "allen carrs easy way to stop smoking" helped set me up ( my Mind) to stop & realise that there aint nuthin to give up !
And trying to help other smokers in this forum and in the real world is what keeps me stopped.
