I officially gave up 10 hours ago... I already have cravings, but think thats more out of habit than anything. I have the inhalator if they become unbearable. I am so glad I am doing this. :D

Good for you Vicki. As good a time to have another go as any. Don't worry about trying to quit before, you're not the first to have several goes and I'm sure you wont be the last. You will have these cravings at first but struggle (if you have to) through them until it gets better and you'll feel the benefits, both physically and mentally. read all you can, look at the links in peoples sigs and get clicking to educate yourself. This may be the last time you ever have to go through this and it is worth it. Lastly don't worry about making use of your inhalator to get you through the worst of it, after all that wont kill you. David.

Welcome Vikki! You're in good company here. I think Dave has kinda covered all the bases really. I have to second his advice about reading from the links in the signatures and stuff. I did nothing but read in the first week.....just left for toilet and food breaks and when the kids absolutely demanded it.....("What do you mean you're hungry? There's the oven, there's the fridge"). :D Well, not quite...but almost.

I just read and read and read....and still do on occassions.

All that reading ended up being the most helpful thing in the world. Because whenever I feel like I'm about to break all of the things I've seen and heard and read and watched and even cried over, has stopped me.

Good luck, hope to see you posting again soon :)

thanks for the encouragement.... all is going good at the moment, craving, but its not driving me up the wall yet. Have only used the inhalator once or twice and it takes the edge off, so thats good. first 16 hours down, bring it on. :D

Like every one else has said if you need it use it, why risk smoking again if you have something to ease the crave and it being there may give you the confidence to think ok I dont need it but its there if I do.

Happy Smoke free 2011 to you.

Well done vicky. Gotta be strong. What you need to do is get focused.

Tell yourself what you want to achieve and how you want to achieve it.

You gotta be really committed to your decision. And when the cravings come

just remind yourself what promise you made to yourself. Stick to it!! And when you can't control your cravings just try to replace it with something like a lolly. And distract yourself. Get busy! If you struggle just post and everybody will help you here. Good luck.

thanks for all of your support... one question though, has anyone here used the inhalator NRT??? if so, did it make you feel sick and cough?? I am begining to think the cravings might be easier than the NRT symptoms... the craving are more like fleeting thoughts that I want a fag, and are quite easy to just ignore at the moment... I remember during my last quit the 6th day was the worst, I was climbing the walls. This time I have gradually cut down what I was smoking prior to quitting altogether.

I think I will go cold turkey tomorrow, I am wondering if the NRT will drag out the quit, and make me feel crappy in the process. I have only used one capsual today, so its not like they are a real crutch.
