Day one today and it is quite tough, I feel very agitated and could murder someone at times!! Determined to keep going though.

Anyone got any tips on how I can cope with my husband still smoking as I am finding that very difficult:eek:

Thanks:)

Hi Anne Marie and welcome to the forum.

I'm afraid I can't advise on living with someone who still smokes. I do know that what you're doing by quitting is the single best thing that you could do for yourself.

It is a bit bumpy at the beginning but it gets better soon. My advice is to read as much as you can on this forum, both old and new posts. It passes time and you'll learn loads about what to expect.

Also, come on here and post loads, be it to rant, rage, rejoice, whatever, we will always be pleased to hear from you.

Lastly, be proud of yourself, we're all proud of you. Be kind to yourself and be patient.

Stay strong

Molly x

I can reply though...banish him outside big time...its hard enough without being exposed to it especially on day one...if he wants to help you in any way he will make this small sacrifice and then you can snigger while he stands shivering smoking a little death stick...a small victory but well worth it :-p

What he does is his call; it's your decision to quit, if he helps you by staying out the way then great but if not don't force it; it might not go down well! Stick to this forum it's the best tool you'll have. I stayed away from smoking areas at work in the early days but it didn't last long, it just smells a bit rough but didn't bother me after a short while. I learned off this forum, the world is full of smokers, it just becomes part of the background after a while :)

Well done on your decision to quit, the very best to you with it....

my husband still smokes, and yes it makes it harder but Its my Quit and Im doing it. We kept well away from each other for the first few days ,as I was like a bear with a sore head, but now he knows its not just a nine day wonder he is being a bit less selfish and trying to keep it well away from me. Hang on in there it will get easier honest.:)

My wife has never smoked so I'm afraid I don't know what it's like, but think that a bit of moral support from him by stepping outside isn't too much to ask surely?

Good luck with the quit, I think as you'll see this is a great community for support, don't be afraid to ask for help and also share the experience - we're all attempting the same thing here, just at different stages and through different means. Go for it!
