Virtual party for new years quitters!

Well, I've made it to week three. Hope all my new years quitters are still doing well. We should have a virtual party to celebrate!

A few observations on my quit to date:

1. The idea that "its mind over matter" is really so true. If we keep positive, we can do this! Hell, we are doing it!

2. My goodness, it feels a lot longer than 15 days!

3. Despite the odd bad day, I am really soooooooo happy to be smoke-free, and now virtually withdrawal-free also!

Happy week three all!

Nik

Hi Nik only time today for a quick forum visit today but ....

So so so good to hear that you are mostly withdrawal free, its very encouraging as I was hoping for some reason that my CT route would mean that the craves would go away sooner.

Had a terrible crave when I got in from work today ,needed to lie down and talk to myself for 20 mins so it didn't get the better of me. Despite reading allen carr from cover to cover several times over the last few weeks I still had this thought that I needed a ciggy to 'reward' myself for getting this far ( I know I had new shoes as an early treat on Monday :D)

Anyway I'm hanging on in here to move into week 2 room tomorrow and agree its a mind over matter issue but its still a bloomin' struggle on some days.

Thank you for your posts and everyone else who is ahead of me, its like a shining light at the end of the tunnel

Donna

Wahoo welldone shoe gal and nonny!! You both have done brilliantly so far! Definitely mind over matter! I am still using inhalator and the minis I am not quite brave enough to go ct yet! It's my 19th day today It feels like a lifetime!

I miss the cigs but I'm not having super evil cravings anymore but ... I do have the odd thought or two! It definitely is getting easier, day by day hour by hour.

I'm telling myself I have chosen to quit for so many important reasons ie health, my family, vanity, money!, there are no good reasons to smoke!

Keep it up and wishing you both the best of luck!

( new shoes sounds lovely;)x

Hi wooders , well done on your quit you are doing brilliantly and I know its not a race but you are miles ahead of me !

No worries re not choosing CT route, its just best to go with whatever suits you. I do have an e-cig in the wings but I did have a quick go with it in the latter part of 2012 and it made me feel a bit light headed and made me want to smoke more not less

Any NRT is better than the evil ciggy itself and as you point out there are no good reasons for us to smoke !

maybe you deserve a treat yourself for doing so well, new shoes always do it for me:D

Look forward to reading more of your posts

take care Donna

Well done all.....we really are doing it and it feels good.....

My personal views on being quit for 15 days....

A) find distraction methods......drinking more tea.....jam tarts.......read more and posting on this forum.....

B) weekends suck.....and drinking alcohol does not help especially when I was alone

C) keep my feet on the ground......this is a long haul flight and I will no doubt encounter thunder storms along the way......

D) set some targets......booked a half marathon and started training.....

I hope we can all keep each other going.....

Day 15 must be a fantastic feeling ramasus, a huge well done and a hey Nonny Nonny from me !

very impressed with half marathon plans , your smoke free lungs will ensure that its a breeze. I never managed more than 10k when I was a few years younger and god knows how I did that because I was still smoking at the time ( not during the race :D:D)

Reassured by your withdrawal free feeling, even though I'm on the CT route I still have a bit of light headedness and general twitchy feelings

I'm entering week 2 room tomorrow so not too far behind

all the best

Donna :)

Winners!

I'm so pleased to be in this room, and yes I'm a little excited about moving up to the 1 month room next week, Max! I hear the dress sense in there is amazing! :D

Ramasus - a half marathon? Very ambitious and a great target, though it would probably kill me! I'm aiming to a 10K, I ran a couple of those in the past (Nonny, I smoked too, but just before and after it!) but not till the weather gets a little warmer! Not wanting to have to deal with broken bones from slipping on ice! LOL

Wooders, you're doing so brill on day 19! Doesn't matter about inhalator etc, what matters is you're doing it!

let's keep going all.

x

Anyone mind if I pull up a chair?

Wow. Into week 3, certainly doesn't feel like a fortnight has passed. Actually there were some times when time seemed to stand still, others I was probably asleep! But glad to be here.

I too will share some observations:

1. It is totally in the mind. I had a craving today. In a meeting in the middle of the day and suddenly my mind flipped out and started thinking about smoking. Physically I was fine, totally all about the idea of smoking.

2. This far into the quit I think I've broken the back of it. I don't know about you guys but I feel like a non-smoker who would have to break a habit to smoke - not the other way around where not smoking feels weird... did that make any sense?

3. Water is your friend. As it tea. As is trying to eat healthily as I am hungry all of the time.

4. And lastly for me is not to get complacent. My last proper attempt at quitting I got to 49 days - buckled and mostly due to the alcohol - two of my other friends who'd quit too also smoked at the same time - it was a train wreck. This time I'm not drinking until a lot later - to me day 15 is good, but I want to hit day 50.

Thank you for reading!

Hi Akaash!

Interesting observations. I lost a three month quit so obviously very keen to get to that date and leave it behind me!

I'm also hungry all the time. I'm indulging myself - but just for now. I'll reign myself in when I feel more comfortable.

As for the wine? Yes alcohol is pretty bad, but I decided I would just deal with it head on. if i accustom myself to drinking at home with hubby, i'll be able to deal with cravings when i'm out. So far it's working.
