Let me tell you this - two rockets did not make it any easier actually going round - did somebody forget to light one....
That was very invigorating and quit affirming - I still am amazed my body will take 20 years of punishment from Cigs and is still willing to forgive me enough to let me run, I'm no Mo Farrah, but I'll do!
LOL - C25K = Couch to 5K - so about 3 miles done today - It is just a programme to take you up to the 5K - quite good fun... I wont be doing anywhere near 25K (15 miles) anytime in this lifetime without a set of wheels beneath me... In fairness I might eventually go for a marathon or something but I wouldn't want to make a habit of that I just think it would be very bad on your body - though probably not as bad as the smokes...
While I went round the park then, there was a guy on a bike, cycling, having a fag - even my chin dropped to the path - I assume he was in the park for Leisure/Health reasons so what's that about ?
Just a suggestion Paul, look for a 5k fun run locally and sign up for it; once I did one I've not looked back since, just completing it and getting my medal was such a boost. I did 4 miles (6.5k) last night for the first time as I'm now training for a half marathon in four months time....when I first went out at the end of August I couldn't do 200 yards without then walking for a bit
My next run is in Ely, is that anywhere near you KK? I'd join the forum if there was one, it's helped me focus and stay quit! I do like running and wouldn't be able to if I smoked again....
I have signed up for a couple already - 1 in January, 1 in May... Both in Edinburgh. Not sure if they are fun or serious but I'll be having fun at them. I have been watching your progress AngryBear and saw how much you enjoyed your successes and doing one for Charidee as well - very good cause What was that just giving link again ? Just to remind those with deep pockets ?
Just want to get a time, then look to improve it... having great fun just running for myself just now - this it maybe releases some of those brain chemical I got from smoking..I definately feel a bit delirious and happy while I'm running. I'm sure I look an attractive picture...
Might ask santa for some sweat bands just to get the image spot on.
The Ely run starts at 11am or so I think in the market place it says? I haven't been there before.....
Popo, thanks for your support! The link for the Half Marathon donation page is below but there's a minimum donation that I was unaware of so if anyone would like to donate a quid or something, every penny is welcome and appreciated and you can pay it into my Paypal account, and I can manually add it onto the page. PM me for my email address to do this.
So people could just click on that link to donate to a good cause and spur you on in your quit and dedication in memory of you late granddad and aunt ?
Good luck AngryBear keep us up on your training and final half marathon your successes will spur on me a few months behind you to keep at the running and I'm sure it will help get many more off the fags and couch.
Thanks Paul great support and it means a lot, my lad's been uploading more songs for my MP3 player today, it's all contributing, in a way I can't wait till March but then again I'm glad I've got time to lose a few more pounds so I'll have less to drag around the course......
Just did week5 day 1 of me couch to 5 thingy and have to say something feels like it has clicked....
Virtually no wheezing no shortness of breathe other than the healthy just ran kind... Something definitely feel different... Dunno If I have just hacked up sufficient bits now to expose a fraction more lung or if capacity is just generally increasing.. But Wow...well chuffed if this keeps up...
I wouldn't be so much in to running but would like to get back to the gym. At the moment I'm tied up with panto rehearsals but maybe once the show is finished I could take myself back to the gym. The good thing about rehearsing panto is that the amount of dancing involved will help keep the weight level. The gym should be easy after this lol
I agree the dark nights are not good... I'm thinking about switching it to morning time when it is a bit lighter or even lunchtime. But there is always something else needing done at lunchtime...
Anytime I have ever got the wii out I get a shot for 2 minutes then the kids are on it and I'm made to sit it out!
