Mornings are just so damn hard. I've always been an early riser getting up at least half an hour before anyone else and that wasmy time - coffee and fags, undisturbed. What to do instead - no idea just don't smoke.
More worrying is the anger - I blow up at least once a day but thankfully nothing has been thrown at the wall - yet.
Still I am dead pleased to be on day 5 without the weed. My chest is still tight but sinuses have cleared. Noticing some differences in taste sensations. Each day sees subtle changes and the end of each day is a joy, knowing I haven't smoked.

All quite common; the important thing is to keep going and hang in there. You'll be through Hell Week soon, and the First Three Weeks soon after that, and think how good you'll feel then???
I still find it difficult first thing in the mornings. That's after three months. Used to be two coffees and four cigs before anything. Now I put the kettle on for the coffee and make porridge. That's my new morning routine. Oh, and I put a dollop of maple syrup on my porridge, because I deserve it.
that was my time too, cup of cofee and 2 fags before i woke the kids up, my only peice and quiet of the day, BUT its still peacefull and quiet and i just dont smoke, i keep myself busy, put the washer on, watch a t v programme ive taped, do the packed lunches and on the weekend, i just stay in bed.
Yep - it definitely does get easier. I know just how you feel though - I used to get up really early just to get my 'me time', which really meant being able to 'enjoy' those first few cigarettes of the day in peace and quiet. I couldn't imagine life without either the 'me time' or the cigarettes. I didn't even want to try.
But I gave it a go all the same - though I did prepare myself (decided to change my morning routine completely). I think this is all about your attitude towards your quit. and a HUGE WELL DONE on getting to day 5! You're come too far to give up on yourself now, so keep on keeping on.
It DOES get easier. Really. Hang on in there, you are doing great
YorkSX...so brilliant that you have made day 5....and I can feel your pain, it is really difficult to know what to do with yourself when in your smoking life you would have had a 'routine' ciggie....as I said to Zebedee over on Day 8 post, you are only missing what was a familiar routine....dont crave familiar, etch out a new familiar groove for you now....perhaps spend more time having a more elaborate breakfast instead of sticking to the routine that you had during your smoking life....or even have an extra 15mins in bed so you just got time for one coffee and not much time to think of smokes....
Hang in there...the alien feeling does go away, promise!;)
I was the opposite. Even tho I smoked a lot I used to get up for work at 6 have my breakfast first then have my smokes after. And I never smoked in bed once I was in bed even if I cudnt sleep I never got up for a smoke
The patch helps me to keep the angry prick within at bay. That was always my biggest obstacle on prior attempts to quit. Try to be patient with loved ones and friends.
