Tough Day

Oh I’m having a tough day today, it’s Day 55 and I though it would get easier, yesterday was tough too but today even more so, to top it off, after losing my dad in Feb, we have had to say goodnight to mums King Charles spaniel, it was awful, Mum is so sad.

I’ve not smoked but i could easily do so 😢😢😢

Aww Monica. You’re very strong not to have smoked during this time. We’ve come this far, let’s just keep going. Well done. Things will settle in time. I’ve lost pets and my dad but it does get better I promise. Deep breaths, you can do it. 💕

Bless her, I’m sure it means the world to her to know you’re there for support. That’s the main thing and I bet your mums dog lived a very happy life with her 😀 x

Oh she did, she was 12 and a King Charles spaniel, they normally live to 8 so she did very well.

I’ve poured a vodka so I can’t drive, hence can’t go to the shop to buy cigs x

That’s what happened with me different situations but all very traumatic and heavy, smoking doesn’t help, trust me :(, it’s an illusion that it does, it is so powerful and made me see, that’s how I coped! You’ll just go through it all again and that for you is not worth it! Ride it through honey, don’t let the thoughts in your head win, they are not true! You think you’ll just have one and stop tomorrow, but that just doesn’t happen! Stay strong through this time, life will still happen whether you smoke or not and you my dear one are now a non smoker! It won’t help! Big love ❣️🦋🌈🦄🍭⭐️ you are smashing this!!!!!

I’ll ok hunnie, I’m just having a ‘feel sorry for me’ evening but I’m alright, honest. I won’t give in, I can’t, I’ve done this for dad and my kids

I know it won’t help but being here and chatting to all you guys does help xx

Hey Monica1969 - so sorry to read of your Mam's dog, I got a lump in throat when I read your post as we have a King Charles Ruby Cavalier Spaniel - Charlie, he is just over a year and a half and would be devastated if anything happened to him, our fury friends are all beautiful but king charles are just so adorable and such great companions, wishing your Mam (and yourself) strength to get through the pain and loss, I really can't imagine what ye are going through - HUGE well done for not caving in but as you well know, smoking will do nothing what so ever to ease this or create even bigger stress and anxiety...

I hear ya about the sad and bad news, as we get older I think it is all part of life, so many loose their life to the dreaded cancer and sadly hits so many doors :(

There’s so many types of stressful events around all of us , and we all deal with it in our own way ..

bereavement has got to be up there with the worst ..Time does heel believe me ..

Your doing well not to cave in to nicotine, your stronger than you think to not give in ..

I still get what i call , ( relaxed cravings ) after nearly 12 months

When I’m chilled out , sat in the garden having a glass of wine and it hits you for a split second that you’d have a cigarette in this mood !

It soon goes as I tell myself I don’t smoke no more ..

Be strong 👍

Hi Rig45, thank you for your supportive words.

I finished up going to bed and sleeping it off, I feel better today, and I didn’t give in 😃

Rjg45

Good for you and a big hug 🤗

I still cannot believe I’ve not smoked for nearly 12 months now ..

I was smoking like a chimney when I did and my addiction was very strong ..

first thing in the morning , at break times. Cramming in as many as I could !

Vaping as well for when I could not get time to have one !!!

And then to zero ( cold turkey ) from when I got ill with pneumonia..

that scared the life out of me .

I believe is what was needed to happen for me to quit smoking , as I wasn’t enjoying smoking that much , same as many ..only enjoy the after a meal one , or with a drink one .

All the others were or are the topping up the nicotine addiction ones !!!

We have our reasons to stop , but all the right ones !

You are doing great , with cravings as expected , for you sadly , with a little more at the moment ..

so as per , a day at a time , being strong will make you stronger ..

Take care and stay positive x

You’ve done amazing hun and I’m looking forward to my 3, 6 & 12 month celebrations

My dad died in Feb of lung cancer and after the initial shock and smoking my head off, I quit on 20th May, two days before my sons 21st birthday

20th of may is my sons birthday 😎👍

Don’t get like me .. im the biggest anti smoker going I think lol

I cannot stand the smell of cigarette smoke now ..

you’ll notice your smell it a mile away , some say they they like it , and I’m sure that’s a fix of some sort 🙄

But I cannot bear it .. it smells so bad to me ..it’s horrible and I hate it lol

It’s amazing how many people actually do smoke you suddenly discover , when your walkin* through town etc , and your constantly getting a whiff of cigarette smoke .. horrible lol

Monica1969
Monica19691 Year Smoke Free in reply to Rjg45

Lol yeah I’m one that likes it, it’s my fix 🤣🤣🤣

Funnily enough, Mum still smokes even after dad dying but when I go to see her I love the smell when she lights up.

I think I’m just going through a rough few days, I was on Champix but stopped them last week as I kept forgetting my evening one, so I could be due to that, just my withdrawal

As said , we’re all different with how it affects us ..

also a big glass of water helps to trick and do the trick !

So sorry for your terrible losses. It’s one of the sucky parts of getting older when we start losing friends & loved ones to damn cancer. I lost my mom to lung cancer almost 3 years ago and she never smoked in her life. But seeing what she went through was another reason why I quit. Stay strong.

So sorry, Monica! Hang on in there!

I am very, very sorry for your Mother's loss -- and yours. We all know rationally that cigarettes don't fill losses, but emotionally is another matter... This is why you have been so BRAVE! In spite of everything, you didn't smoke!!!

A warm hug from Portugal.

Hi anaamaral, how are you doing hun?

No, I didn’t smoke, it was a tough couple of days I’ve gotta admit but I’ve come through the other side.

As for mums dog, yes it’s sad, more for Mum than me though, there’s been too much loss this year but onwards and upwards 💪💪💪💪 xxx

Yeah I’m good hunnie, had a couple of wobbly days but I was ok again on Sunday so back to full throttle. At least I didn’t allow myself to smoke, I just shouted at everyone instead lol

How are you doing? xxx

So pleased you made it through! I’m still struggling with insomnia hence my 3am message!! 😩😩😩 going onto 8 days which is good, not going back this time and staying strong with my resolve! It’s been a tough week though, cold turkey again! I thought it may have been easier being off for 54 days and then only 1 week back, but it hasn’t! ❣️❣️❣️

Hi sweet, I’m so glad you’re keeping strong, I’ve noticed each quit is so very different, I think it’s harder for you because you have been here before and you’re annoyed with yourself, once you get to day 54 again, you’ll start flying as it’ll be a new journey again.

Stick with it hun, I do think you’re brave doing cold turkey though, I couldn’t have done that xxx
