Hello everyone, my name is Danielle.

I have only ever quit for 3 days before and that was back in 2006 with help. Having just completed 2 fitness courses I felt a fraud smoking. I also have two kids and felt so guilty.

I have joined as need an extra incentive to keep on going.

How is everyone doing?

Also just want to add something. I thought this would actually be A LOT harder then it actually is. Yes it is hard and there are moments I want a fag so bad that I end up biting people heads off (ooops) but bar that i'm not having any of the side effects i've been reading about. I was a 10 a day smoker, could this be why?

I'm making it sound like a breeze, it's really not, just not as bad as I imagined. I think it may be because I know that this is it now. I am not going back, there is no turning around. I will feel the worlds biggest failure. I have so many people saying well done and to keep going, id feel like I was letting them down.

If it's ok I will use this thread to just waffle on when I really need a fag lol. I have read some of the fab support from you guys on here. Such a great feeling to know you can get support online like this.

Hi Danielle, welcome to the forum!

Good decision. Really good. We all know there's no good reason to smoke and every fantastic reason to stop, but making the decision to quit is still really brave, so kudos to you for taking that step!

Take it one day at a time. It's fantastic that you're finding it relatively easy but beware the sneaky demons, they can creep up and bite you on the arse when you least expect it, especially when you're getting nicely established in your quit and the initial euphoria wears off. Just be prepared for rogue attacks and you'll be fine!

Hang around here, it's a great place to get (and give) support.

hi danielle, well done, sounds like you've made a really good start, you should be starting to find it easier soon if not already, are you noticing many of the good effects yet, easier breathing and skin looking clearer are the two things i love the most now i'm quit again, i'm so vain :)

Thanks so much. Really appeicate the replies.

I went to the doctors today to ask for one of those stick things "just in case". I have to go back tomorrow as you can only get one if on the programme. Not very good for people who go cold turkey, but walk in needing some help there and then. She checked my levels which are a 6 and she said that's classed as a non smoker, wohooooo :D I felt so good.

Yes I noticed very quickly the breathing better. It's really weird isen't it. To think hwat we were doing to our insides. I've noticed the whites of my eyes are much whiter. And hehe i'm vain too lol.

Oh yes, we're all vain... imagine if every cigarette had visibly scarred us or covered our skin with tar, the way it's doing to our lungs.

Think we'd all have stopped a lot quicker

Glad you're doing so well. Keep going!

Danielle

Your going to be okay, remember ciggaretts really only stole your time and money. I dont know if you were a pack a day or what. Im having a hard time because im on day 7 (really 8 - i quit july 6th @ 2pm). I smoked alot when stressed and just out of boredom. Yikes - Im using the patch (it takes away withdrawl sysmptoms and makes it easier) I know that I dont want to get fat, it defeats the purpose of quitting. You can and you will because remember theres a reason for quitting. Its like building a brand new life and it might be 9 months of hell! ThanksHello everyone, my name is Danielle.
