So, day one! Morning one was not too bad, but it was quite scary leaving the house for work with no cigarettes. Oh well... here now
Edit: For anyone interested, here is my first thread with my back story in it

Congratulations on the first day of the rest of your life!
Don't be nervous. You can totally do this.
Buy yourself some cake. Cake helps

Hmmmm... Low-sugar cake?
Hi there Fencer, great to see you on this morning. Leaving the house without cigarettes still makes me giggle a little bit... I can fit so much more into my handbag now! The positives of quitting are truly endless
Have a great non-smoking morning!

Thanks
Usually by now I would be heading out for number 5! That's quite awful given that it's not even 10am and a quarter of a pack would already have been smoked.
Think of all the extra work you are getting through lol.
I sniff people (discreetly) who have just had a cigarette and I find I hate the smell. It makes you think eugh thats how I smell and might help a little.
Have you planned your lunch hour so that you don't have too much spare time on your hands.
Keep going - you're doing really well
I haven't. I may go for a walk though. I have a sandwich in with me, so that won't take me long, so yes... a nice 40 minute walk sounds like a plan
Hope today goes well for you x
Made it past my first morning
Quite worried about going home from work. I know that there is my leftover cigs there and worried that I will be really tempted to smoke.
well, that would be throwing away your nicotine free day... why would you want to do that?
Just decide that you're not going to get any tonight... you can make that same decision tomorrow.... but you'll worry about that when the time comes.
remember YOU have to decide to not smoke, day by day, hour by hour and minute by minute if you have to!
Karri's right, as soon as you get in - rip them up...you cant think about it or you wont do it - just literally open the door, run towards them and tear them to pieces.
You want to be here tomorrow saying "Yay - i resisted and made it through my first day"
Thanks guys. Will deal with them when I get in.
Hey... I'm actually doing this
That's about 24 hours
See you in day two forum tomorrow. Hopefully I won't be back here!!!
Good luck to everyone else.
Brilliant, well done. If you can do today, you can do tomorrow too.
Stay positive and (I found) it helped to break my routine as much as possible the first 3 -4 days. then I had a sort of mental tick list (well I still do actually). The sort of things were:
I managed to drive to work today without smoking
I managed to sit at my desk for 2 hours without a break for a cigarette
I managed to have a coffee and not lunge for a fag
etc etc
I still have loads to combat but I feel like I've achieved something each time I've done it once!
Childish perhaps, but it works for me!
Good luck with tomorrow.

It's quite a normal pastime in the UK Sparky obviously the trend hasn't arrived over the pond yet..........won't be long before you're sniffing too i bet!
