Last time 60 days. This time 8 days. So freaking annoying. I had one, then 2 & 3 and now 4. So do I stop again right away or do I wait a few days and try again? Sorry everyone

If it's today you've had the 4 then call it a blip and continue with your quit.

You don't have to say sorry, you did so well to get to 8 days... remember when you were doubting yourself being able to get to 2?!

Everyone goes at their own pace when they quit so only you can chose the right time...remember tho, it's not going to get any easier tomorrow or the day after so don't leave it too long.. please :)

Ohhhhh, Sparky. :(

I don't know. It's really up to you. Maybe you need a few days to regroup.

But if you smoke 'for a while', a while can turn into years if you're not careful. I know that's happened to me.

Years more of turning your lungs tarry and black and clogging up your arteries. Not a good choice.

So stop for a while if you must and regroup, but don't stay away too long.

Really sorry x

I went 5 days last week and then gave in. I felt awful afterwards and didn't enjoy them at all (had 8 in 2 days). I knew though that if I didn't carry on with quitting straight away that I would leave it another 5 years like last time so I started again on Sunday.

It really depends on your frame of mind, I knew I wanted to stop and I found having those 8 so far has made all the difference. I keep remebering how foul they tasted and it puts me off doing the same again.

I can't quit halfway through a day though so if I was in your shoes I would have to carry on smoking for the rest of the day and start again tomorrow.

Don't beat youself up about it, think positive and try again! Good luck x

Like Pete says....call it a blip.

You've done your blip, you've felt stupid, realised that they didn't help you one iota but rather just made you feel sh*t. All of this is strong in your mind.

Call it a blip, regroup and chillax :)

But, remember....step away from the smokes

Morning Sparky -

What method are you using? I have found the gum to be a suitable replacement for a ciggy in a pinch; this time round, I have had only two chomps on one piece very early on, but I do have it everywhere in the event that I find I cannot make it.

I too had my "blip" a little over a week ago; I enjoyed it, would like to do it again, but not as much as I would like to remain not smoking. Play out the rest of the day, if you wish, and then try again.

Over the years I have met a few people who I really didn't think had the ability to achieve much in life - AND THEY WERE ABLE to quit smoking. If they have been able to handle the challenge I am going to damn well give it a college try.

Cheers all and wishes for a successful day

Good luck Sparky - I am sure that over life you have conquered many difficult things; you will conquer this too.

That's one of those questions only you can answer.

Don't forget that it's only a failure when you embrace the smoke and give up on your quit.

The important thing is to understand what dragged you back to the evils of tobacco and see if there's a way to avoid it next time.

Years from now it won't matter on which day you quit or how many goes you had.

Work on your resolve and jump back on the wagon as soon as it feels right.

Don't leave it too long though? :)

Well after reading the post (several times) I am going back to being a non smoker tomorrow. No excuses for slipping (but I have a lot of them) just made a bad choice to smoke again so now I can deal with it.

The scary part is I liked it. Do you remember that dizzy / rush feeling ……………..oh so nice. Too bad that only happens after the first one.

Thank you all again for all the help. I hope I can come back in a few days with some good news.

thats the spirit, jump right back on the no smoking wagon, that way your keeping the momentum going.

your brain may have enjoyed the smoke, but i bet your lungs didn't! early in my quit i used to love the smell of ciggie smoke, but gradually your tastebuds change and the thought of smoking becomes unpleasant, which is for the best.

as someone on the forum said, smoking is my friend, but that friend is bad to me so i just can't be with him/her any longer...
