I'm on patches (25mg invisi nicorette 16 hr) and have been since the start. However, i have forgotton to put them on a number of times. The first day (on about day 5/6) i lasted til about 4pm and then stomped around, shouted A LOT but luckily went to the gym for a tough 1 hour workout so it seemed to pass.
However, the last few times i've forgotton i've not even realised until a few days later - this weekend i didn't wear one Saturday or Sunday, and have only realised this morning!!
I know this is great as i'm not relying on nicotine, but am nervous that if i forget to put a patch on that i will get a craving while i'm out and not have the control and balance the patch gives me to be able to say no to a cig.
Am not really looking for advice as i guess it's difficult as everyone is different, but does anyone else forget to put their patch on? I have got diagnosed memory issues (due to drug abuse in the past - anyone that tells you cannabis etc do not harm you, send them my way and let me talk to them;)) but i would've thought the addiction would be stronger - i never forgot to have a cigerette or to buy a new packet (now THAT would've been useful...!!! )

Hey, I know you said you are not looking for advice, but if you carry a bag/wallet or something whenever you go out, why not pop a patch in there. Then if you get a craving when out and realise it is because you do not have the patch on then you can at least slap on a patch rather than reaching for a ciggie!

Seeing as craves are nothing to do with nicotine and therefore a patch won't cure a crave don't create a problem you haven't got.
If you think you can only relieve a crave by sticking on a patch then make sure you always carry an emergency one with you.
The trick of course is to learn how to deal with craves armed only with something that you never forget...
Thanks IITG and Austin, i have put a patch in my bag and one in my coat pocket for that 'just in case' moment. I think it's sort of like a crutch still (even if it is a placebo), as i'm still a newbie non-smoker (34 days today:)).
However, got the clinic next week so my stop smoking angel (she really :D) may be able to offer some advice going forward.
What does help when i'm surrounded by smokers and thinking about it is to sniff up - the horrible stench immediately makes me go "bleurgh, no thanks!"
It's gd to have some nicotine handy 'just in case'... it's not smoking after all and it's only a short term solution. I'm sure your angel is very proud of you!
