~Official Day One~

:eek:OMG Guys, This is the start of my True Day One and i am sat here at 7.27am in the morning and it just feels so so strange. Its not like im getting a nagging feeling to go and be friends with the Nicotine Devil but its just so strange. I had a crap night, tossing and turning, dreaming about the God damn things, i mean come on is there no let up in your mind over these things. Last ciggy was nearly 24 hrs ago and although i feel shattered in one sense i feel great in another.

Im sat here drinking my tea and im not really thinking about it, i thought i would i think a lot of mine was boredom and of course habit. We are out today, thank goodness so that will help keep me occupied at least, if i can get through today then the only way is "UP" and not back.

I will come back on later and update more but so far at least i know now that my bodies Carbon Monoxide levels are nearly back to a true non smokers level and thats only 24hrs.

I must remember that after my last cig~

In 20 minutes: Your blood pressure and heart rate will return to normal. This immediately lowers your risk of having a heart attack. Your circulation will also improve, bringing fresh blood to your fingers and toes, so they may start to tingle.

In 8 hours: The nicotine and carbon monoxide levels in your blood reduce by half. Carbon monoxide is the same fume pumped out by a car exhaust! In high doses it can be fatal, but at low levels - such as those found in cigarettes - it causes shortness of breath and increased heart rate. Your oxygen levels will also have returned to normal, helping replenish dried-out skin and hair caused by smoking.

In 24 hours: Carbon monoxide will be completely eliminated from your body and your lungs will start to clear out excess mucus and any other smoking 'debris'. You may notice you have a cough or sore throat as new lung tissue starts to grow.

Now what a better way to encourage me to stay stopped once and for all. :)

Wish me luck guys, i know i am gonna do this, i must be strong and NOT GIVE IN N.O.P.E. :)

  • Good for you nutty, you seem determined enough to succeed so that's a good start, it is true the longer you go the better you'll feel, but, you may have some not so good days too. If you want this badly enough you'll struggle through them and become stronger and stronger. Yes keep posting, feeling good or bad, someone will respond in time. David

  • You're sounding very strong and up for this Jo :). That's great!! One minute, hour, and day at a time and they soon mount up!!

Don't let any thoughts of 'just one' enter your head. Keep vigilante and you can do this!!

    Good luck.

  • You'll be fine, your strong and determined so thats the best start you can give yourself.

Come on here if you need support, and remember any cravings will go whether you smoke or not so why bother smoking!!! Oh and one I read on here yesterday that I really like is; I'm going to enjoy each craving as each craving means I am not smoking.

  • Just got back

:)Well, we have just got back from taking the kids to have their eyes tested, new glasses for 2 of the 3, then lunch, cinema then Mac d's for tea.

Overall im feeling OK, those Champix have made me feel a little sick tonight and im only on day 6, thats the first time i have felt sick on them. I am also concerned about the dose doubling as from Weds as in all honesty i dont feel i need it in the higher strength now. I mean i have stopped smoking, i have been able to have more of a laugh with my OH as i feel on the same level as him now, i dont have urges or cravings as such, in fact this time i would say it just passes me by. I think i was better prepared this time unlike the last times and i know Champix is helping but i really dont want to go on the 2 x 1mg per day i would rather stay as .5mg x 2 per day as i feel that would be enough. Does anyone know if that is possible as i was not a heavy smoker and when my Carbon Monoxide level was taken last Tuesday it was 12 so i dont feel i need the extra going into my system.

If anyone has any knowledge or other info do let me know as i am seeing the Nurse tomorrow anyhow but i just wondered if anyone else had done the change of dose and not gone on the so high levels.

    Thanks again everyone

    lol

  • Speak to you nurse. I know when I was having issues with it the had me on one dose in the morning only and then after 5 weeks on it I came off altogether as it didn't agree with me.

Check with you nurse though as they will know the best way forward.

p.s glad you have had such a positive first day !!!

  • Thanks Hun :)

I will speak to my Nurse tomorrow and see what she can suggest as i have not started the higher does yet, thats Weds

Well im off for a nice soak now, would love a glass of wine or something but you cant drink whilst taking these Champix so i will have to make it a cuppa instead.

Oh and one more thing, im now past the 24 hours so i can now say........................................

You may notice you have a cough or sore throat as new lung tissue starts to grow. No cough or sore throat for me, no mucus or anything horrid so far only a slight headache :( but i can handle that so lets hope it stays that way.

    Till later then

Way to go Jo!! :). Enjoy your bath and cuppa!

I'm technically on my 14th day now (since 6pm) and I've not had any of the cough or mucus thing at all. I wonder if that's a good or a bad thing?

  • Thats Better :)

    DOooooooo Thats better,

Just had a nice soak, leaving my thoughts and troubles behind me, just had a lovelly cuppa made my by OH too, mind you it was not a freebie or done cos he felt like it, nah it was because he is a choc o holic and will do anything for his choccy fix, bless him.

Right, here's to a full day 2 of being a Non Smoker and also for having great pleasure in telling the Nurse i have quit a week earlier than planned, woo hoo :)

  • I cut back to just one 1mg tablet taken at lunchtime, as the 2 x 1mg made me feel a little to spacey and nauseous, on the advice of my quit nurse, and it's been fine (still the odd bad day here and there craving-wise but the side effects from the tablets have gone). I had thought about giving them up completely but then I forgot to take my dose one day and I soon knew about it... so have decided to continue for the full 3 months. I don't want to risk my quit just for the sake of taking the tablet a little longer.

  • Thank you :)

    Hi Cantante,

I must admit these Tab's are good but i think when i see the Nurse later i might ask if there is a way around having to go onto the full dose now. I dont want to stay on somthing so powerfull if its not needed but like you i dont want to stop taking them and then find im back to square 1.

I will update later and let ya know how i got on with the Nurse as my appt is at 4pm.

Take care and again thank you.
