Hi Rampage,

Wishing you all the best for your quit. Do lots of reading on here & some great links in peoples signatures.

I hope for you this is the last time you have to do this but should the worst happen please keep trying. Your life is too precious not to ;)

Hi Rampage, No one on this site can give you a magic answer to help you quit, but there are a lot of people here that will give you advise, help, and support as you go through the stages of you quit attempt. Remember we have all been where you are.Take time to read through this site and learn from all our experiences. It is great that you have now decided to quit this dirty, unhealthy and expensive habit, and yes I like most smokers will admit that I enjoyed smoking for the 35 years that I did it, untill one day I had a health scare when I was breathing in. I am now ok but it gave me the willpower to say "enough is enough" and I smoked my last fag on 17th December 2009 and since that day I have not smoked 8840 fags and saved £2386. Anyway you will meet a lot of great people on this site who are ready to help you,so welome to the club and post regularly to let us know how you are doing.

Hello i like your username :)

Congratulations on your decision to stop the dirty habit! Read the sig's on here they are a real help. see the way i see it is nicotine has spent long enough in your head to feed the addiction, a little literature on how to quit is only fair and will keep you mentally strong which lets face it, you HAVE to be. There is no easy way out!

Lot's of luck to you.

Hi,

I have COPD so have a lung function test once a year to keep an eye on it. It was 78 last year & 97 this year.

Proof that smoking is NOT good for you me thinks. So knock it on the head as soon as you can ;)

I just want to say thank you to you all for your helpful words. It makes me feel that little bit better in making my choice.

I have put together my own workout routine starting with some easy running, then hopefully in a few months a marathon.

So thats my motavation to quit along with the health and money part. I am really sick and tired of spendind £5.25 per day on 20 royals.

So again thank you all, and am sure with the support from all of you and this site, i can do it this time!!!!

on every new year i make a new year resolution - quit smoking.but the next day itself thts 1st of jan i begin with my daily curriculum of smoking.till nw i hvn't been able quit smoking.please help what am i supposed to do.i am not determined about my habits..thats my flaws

Mate,

I have been through the same process you have been. Everytime i quit i go for at least a couple of weeks then something sets me off and i start again.

Today is my first day smoke free after a couple fo months since my last try.

I have found on the couple of days running up to today the people on this site have been very supportive, and offering kind words or wisdom.

I use NRT. i prefer patches as i can put them on in the morning and just forget about it. Also support from family or friends helps. My mum always tells me off when a i go to smoke if i am trying to quit. My girlfriend is a smoker and she has tried not to smoke in front of me.

Speak to others on here, and speak to your doctor and find out which would be the best method for you to use.

Also i am starting to go back to the gym today. It makes sense for me to go to the gym and get fit if i am giving up. Also it is a good stress buster.
