Silly Q...

Hi guys,

as some of you remember I am trying to prepare myself for the quit..

I have loads of book (alan carr, riley, etc, etc, etc!) but I was checking out new books that may help. I love books and I think it's probably the best medium to change minds (at least for me).

I was wondering if anyone has read 'the nicotine trick'; I was reading quite good reviews about this, but I'd like to have the opinion of members.

Also, can anyone reccomend any good read which can really help?

Thank you everyone.

Zai:)

Hi There! Welcome to the forum!

I read the Allen Carr book - I tried quitting a few times before .. and I read the Allen Carr book on one of my other attempts... I re-read the book, and this time I keep it by my side at all times, and if I really feel like a cigarette, I will pick up the book and turn to a few passages or pages that really hit the nail on the head for me.... I just keep re-reading it... getting that info to gel in my head!

I haven't read any others... so, not sure about the nicotine trick! But, hey, I think you should read them all, just keep reading as much info you can get until you find the one that works for you! It will really help in the long run (I think!)

Best of luck on your quit!

Sylvia

(My quit date was June 28th, 2010)

Hi Zai.

I found the Nicotine Trick very useful. I like to read a lot of books about the quitting process. Have you read "Stop Smoking, Stay Cool: A Dedicated Smoker's Guide to Not Smoking" It's by Richard Craze? It's like a journal that follows his cold turkey quit. That is a good book.

Hi

Well done on deciding to quit!! I read the A Carr book twice and he makes some really really good points but parts of it I was a bit ify with but like Sylvia said I still have the book and the parts that I know did tweek something in my brain I re-read now and again! I have also just yesturday ordered Paul McKenna book and CD - I have quit for 6 weeks now but just want something new to confirm the quit in my head if that makes sense sometimes feel like saying the same things over and over gets repetitive and looses its effect, read some fantastic reviews on the Paul McKenna book and looking forward to listening to the CD also apparently its quite therapeutic and some reviews said that the CD was all it took - will let you know how it goes!!

Keep us posted on how you get on and good Luck

Kxx

Thank you all for the replies and encouraging words.

I have almost all books, including the Cd from McKenna..I don't have anything against the guy, he book it's ok..unfortunately I cannot stand his voice!!eh eh

I am sorry to say this, but it's true..I don't know why but while I was listening the cd after a few minutes I could not stop laughing.May be it's just me, so I think you should give it a go.

I have also book, audio book and dvd from alan carr.I was so impressed of all the grea reviews I read I started to think that I migth be insane!!!It did not work for me.I mean, he had definately a point on all he said, rationally. I think it may be unrealistic to stop smoking without using anything..he goes on saying that CT does not work, but his method is basically that!!

Again, it's amazing how many people managed to quit using his book etc, really good. Unfortunately it did not work for me and no matter how many time I read it, it did not make ani difference :(

I will try to read more and more..let's see what will happen.

Hi there,

I agree. Alan Carr helped loads of people and he definately made an historic break through in smoking cessation, I am not saying any less. I was just saying that it did not work for me, but compared to all the people he helped it's nothing.I wish it did work for me but unfortunately it didn't. I am sure something else will work for me at some point.
