OK, I halved my dose of Champix just over a week ago, and stopped altogether yesterday morning at 5am so I am now CT. Does anyone have any tips or do I just carry on as I have been. Will the strong cravings return? I am a wee bit scared  as I don't know what to expect. I know I never want to smoke again so any advice is helpful :D

Well done, i would imagine you'll probably get cravings but remember they only last 3 minutes so get busy when the moment strikes, mmm starburst sweeties helped me :p Just think positive, be positive and all will be well. Don't forget to drink lots of water too.

It ain't so bad!

I had to cut down and ditch the champix fairly early on due to getting every single side effect!

The first 2 days off it were a little bit 'gnawy', small cravings which quickly pass but nothing like the first few days of quitting. I was a little bit irritable but again that quickly passed. I think the feeling of flying solo gives you the sense of wellbeing you need to think 'hey, I am doing this all by myself, I never thought I could, wow I can take on anything!'

Champix blocks the nicotine receptors in the brain. What few receptors you have left by this point (as you haven't been feeding them their nicotine they have been dying) will not be able to put up much of a fight. ;)

Hi Shojam

Drink water like it is going out of fashion, try some fruit juice as well. Got to flush that nicotine out of your body asap and drinking is the best way.... relax and keep telling yourself you can do it, the craving only last 3 mins approx just get yourself busy when they come a calling ... good luck.... nah you dont need it you will be great.. go kick nico's arse :)

you haven't got any Nicotine in your system as Champix doesn't contain itr, so you shouldn't be getting any physical cravings at all - although you may find your 'desire' to smoke starts to become a little stronger.

I didn't take it myself, but my mum and two other friends have all quit in the last 5 months using Champix and none of them felt any different when they stopped taking it Hopefully you'll find it the same:)

thanks guys, this is day 2 without it and I have only had a few urges, no stronger than before. I actually feel a lot better so this was probably the right decision for me. As far as I can work out, there should be no nicotine in my system at all, so it will be a case of mind over matter. Thanks for your advice again, a great support you all are :)
