...and what a strange one it has been. Unfortunately Mrs N. decided that we should clear out Bedroom No. 4 today. She even took a day off work to ensure I did it.
Now none of you will know Bedroom No.4, it's an untidy place, a place of wonder and procrastination. Since we bought the house from my late dads estate, it has been "THAT ROOM". Most people have a "THAT DRAWER" in the kitchen that contains those old flat batteries, the special tool required to dismantle their bed, T Lights and those little white wire strips used to seal plastic bags; we have an entire room of wonderment which has been dedicated to storing the treasures of my family past and the rest of the s**t we couldn't find a home for!
So what did we find...stamps...lots of stamps. My dad gave me a stamp collection when I was a wee lad which I thought I'd identified and moved on. It would seem that wasn't the case!
A three year old cheque from our mortgage company for ... well a not unsubstantial amount of money! YIPPEEEE. It wasn't cashed the first time around so they're going to resend. How jolly nice of them .
Lots of old odds 'n' sods that belonged to my grandparents including my grandmothers wedding ring, photographs taken by my grandfather during the war and wicked cool keepers that made me feel all warm inside.
Some really sad letters and poems written by my dad when he was about my age and going through a divorce. Also some great joke documents he created in his later years.
More DVDs and CDs than I could ever shake a big stick at.
Furniture and china ware that will also be finding its way to a local auction house.
After a hard day of exploration and two very VERY large car loads of "stuff" taken to the tidy tip, I'm sat here with a glass of red and my laptop on my lap toasting my man berries nicely.
What has any of this got to do with smoking? **** all!
Today has been a good day.
HAPPY QUITTING FELLOW QUITTERS.
