Day 36 in the Big Blubber household....

...and what a strange one it has been. Unfortunately Mrs N. decided that we should clear out Bedroom No. 4 today. She even took a day off work to ensure I did it.

Now none of you will know Bedroom No.4, it's an untidy place, a place of wonder and procrastination. Since we bought the house from my late dads estate, it has been "THAT ROOM". Most people have a "THAT DRAWER" in the kitchen that contains those old flat batteries, the special tool required to dismantle their bed, T Lights and those little white wire strips used to seal plastic bags; we have an entire room of wonderment which has been dedicated to storing the treasures of my family past and the rest of the s**t we couldn't find a home for!

So what did we find...stamps...lots of stamps. My dad gave me a stamp collection when I was a wee lad which I thought I'd identified and moved on. It would seem that wasn't the case!

A three year old cheque from our mortgage company for ... well a not unsubstantial amount of money! YIPPEEEE. It wasn't cashed the first time around so they're going to resend. How jolly nice of them :) .

Lots of old odds 'n' sods that belonged to my grandparents including my grandmothers wedding ring, photographs taken by my grandfather during the war and wicked cool keepers that made me feel all warm inside.

Some really sad letters and poems written by my dad when he was about my age and going through a divorce. Also some great joke documents he created in his later years.

More DVDs and CDs than I could ever shake a big stick at.

Furniture and china ware that will also be finding its way to a local auction house.

After a hard day of exploration and two very VERY large car loads of "stuff" taken to the tidy tip, I'm sat here with a glass of red and my laptop on my lap toasting my man berries nicely.

What has any of this got to do with smoking? **** all!

Today has been a good day.

HAPPY QUITTING FELLOW QUITTERS.

What a wonderful day you have had, a trip through Aladdin's cave, and what magical things you seem to have found.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

What a fantastic exploration to have. Dig deep and enjoy, but please watch the venison, to good to ignore.

Blooming heck Mart you had a busy day yesterday sorting through the bedroom.

I have one bedroom like that at the moment. September last year we had all the downstairs renovated, knocking walls down, plastering everywhere, new kitchen etc and as it's all nice and new so I want the rooms downstairs clutter free so now have a cluttered guest bedroom which was decorated early last year. OH keeps asking me to sort it out as it's pretty much my stuff or my daughters but I just dread the thought of tackling it, dont think I will tackling it today though.......

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Hi Shazie,

Hope the quit's going well.

Was busy yesterday, hasn't been much better today. Finished sorting through all the crap and a few more trips to the tidy tip completed. Carpet lifted so now just need to do some mild surgery on the walls to fill in the cracks. We started renovating this place 2 and a half years ago and still going. We also knocked down the odd wall (one of them supporting) so the house has "moved" a little as it has all settled. Also lifted the carpet in the downstairs cloakroom...that was nice :(

So all I need to do now is lay the bathroom floor, fit the cloakroom suite and floor, re-lay the kitchen floor, plaster a new bit of wall between the living and dining rooms, fit skirting boards, tile kitchen and carpet throughout. Gimme another 5 or 6 years and I get through it.
