Nearly caved in!!!!!!.......

Well not been on the forum for a good few days and I am afraid to say that I nearly bought some cigs last Friday. I lost my aunt last Friday and even though she was elderly it still came as a great shock as unexpected.

My first thought was ok this gives me reason now to break my quit as I was so upset and devestated and I can justify smoking again. I walked into the local shop in the village on Friday evening and decided that I didn't want to smoke even though my brain was saying "well it's ok after the shock and loss".....I didn't and walked out of the shop with 2 bottles of Vino!!!!!!!

I am so so glad that I resisted temptation to the nicodemon as I realised that it wouldn't have taken away the upset and just got me back into that victious circle.

I'm now on week 4 and 1 day :D and feel that I am really committed and focused and WILL be a non smoker forever.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Well done you Shazie!

Sorry to hear about your aunt; good move in thinking smoking wont make anything better, if anything it would only make you feel worse!

Hope you manage to keep your chin up through the difficult times.

quitting is easy staying quit is hard

I am so glad you didnt give in to those little demons I would have had to come round and give you a good slapping but you didnt so thats good I will pat you on the back instead and you get a gold star and a lollipop.

Its not easy but after 4 weeks it would be a crime to start again and have to fight them awfull withdrawal symptoms again not sure I could do it again.

You keep it up and heres a little poem I wrote as a mantra

I’m really glad that you’ve quit

Cause in the past you’ve smoked some sh**

Smelly Hair Hands and Breath

Shorter Life but longer Death

Up the hills you’ve got no puff

Smokers cough that makes you rough

So pass each day without the weed

Cause only then will you succeed

So Bravo to all that now don’t smoke

Cause early Death is sure no Joke

Thanks Jamangie for your post and peom.

Yes looking back now I am so so glad I didn't cave in. The tought of going back to day 1 and starting again would have caused me just as much upset.

29 days has took alot and I feel like I've been smoke free for 29 months not 29 days.

I'll remain strong throughout all this upset.

Hey Shazie wazzy (don't ask...I've not idea why).

Day 33 (although it might be 34 now). I'm not on the 'puter that's got the proper dewbry on it so having a go at guessing.

Coast was lovely. Was great to see my big sis, her hubby, mum and stepdad. Had a lovely meal yesterday and a fairly easy drive back this morning.

Now it's all about enjoying the rest of my week off (and a beer obviously).

Hi Shaz, sorry to hear about your Aunt, great job in not breaking your quit though. After coming such a long way you certainly would have regretted it.

Last year, a couple of months into my second quit I had a similar situation, I however wasn't so strong and thought just one or two would be OK under the circumstances, well the rest speaks for itself, here I am on quit 3.

Well done again, smoking never makes anything any better.
